Engineer Presentation

  • Is the engineer wearing presentable appropriate company uniform, work boots and equipped with suitable PPE for tasks ?

  • Does the engineer have company identification and or DBS number available (Where required)?

Customer Service

  • Did engineer report / sign in with the site responsible person at site?

  • Did the engineer sign in? / complete induction (If required)?

  • Did engineer check asbestos register and sign/date where applicable?

  • Is engineer aware of HSE first aid board, eye wash stations, evacuation and meeting points?

  • Did the engineer ask the R/P for the water hygiene log book / last risk assessment for auditing purposes?

Training / Qualifications for Legionella testing works

  • ACoPL8 / Legionella awareness training up to date with certificates available at on line training matrix?

  • Engineer confined spaces training up to date and certificates available (Where required)?

  • PPE training / General H&S skills up to date and regularly refreshed?

  • Working at height training up to date (Where required)?

  • City and Guilds and / or thorough experience and proven competence in Legionella Risk Assessment works for the type of building being assessed?

  • Proven competence and / or training records available for chlorination of supply pipework to BS8558?

  • Proven competence and / or training records available for chlorination of Storage tanks, cisterns and associated pipework to BS8558?

  • Proven competence and / or training records available for water sampling to BS7592?

  • Certificates or evidence of experience and competence working with TMV's?

  • Demonstrated experience and competence in using chemicals - COSHH, for descaling & disinfecting of shower fittings and outlets?

  • Proven experience, training and competence in closed system analysis and chemical treatment - BSRIA?

  • Proven experience, competence and training in analysis and treatment of steam boilers to BS 2486?

  • Demonstrated experience and competence in log book and system auditing for Legionella control works?

  • Proven experience, training and competence in Cooling tower analysis, maintenance and testing to HSG 274 Part1?

  • RAMS / Method statements available and checked by Engineer on a regular basis or skill matrix system.

  • Thermometer calibration up to date and regularly checked as required?

  • Photometer calibration up to date and regularly checked as required?

  • Tools and equipment well maintained and renewed as required?

  • Reagents, test strips, dip slides and / or sampling bottles within use - by date and stored safely?

  • Is Engineer competent and experienced in working with chemical metered dosing pumps?

  • Is Engineer carrying out any works independently, that require further training courses or mentoring?

General Plumbing Competence

  • Does the Engineer hold a valid City & Guilds L2 / NVQ2 in plumbing (Minimum)?

  • Does the Engineer hold an up to date G3 UHWS certificate for working on unvented water heater systems?

  • Is engineer trained and competent to complete the task(s) in question?

  • Is engineer competent in installation and maintenance of dosing pumps, filters and associated pump components?

  • Is engineer competent and trained in the installation and maintenance of water softening devices / base exchange units?

  • Is engineer competent and trained in maintenance of closed heating systems. e.g; pipework, valves, radiators, pumps etc.

  • Is engineer gas safe registered? N/A if not gas pipework

  • Is engineer competent in safe isolation on low voltage (If required)?

  • Does engineer require High Voltage clearance / training for task(s)?

  • Does engineer include up - to - date confined spaces training?

  • Does engineer include up - to - date Working at heights training?

  • Are engineers ladders / access equipment tagged and safe to use with engineer deemed competent to work at height?

  • Does engineers experience and qualification level meet the requirement for safe completion of the task or for insurance purposes?

  • Are engineers tools and associated equipment clean and in good working maintained order?

  • Are engineers tools stored safely and a good state of general cleanliness <br> / housekeeping maintained at site. With any defects reported ASAP.

  • Should there be at least two engineers for safe completion of the task, i.e. Double - handed works?

  • Does engineer suffer with any known physical disabilities or injuries that may render the task in question difficult?

  • Is engineer using correct tools and appropriate PPE for the task at hand?

  • Does the task include lone working in a potentially unsafe environment or working condition?

Reporting and Documentation

  • Are RAMS, MSDS, instructions, associated CoSHH data available for the engineer / site RP to access?

  • Does engineer record and report any defects, servicing records, equipment data appropriately (Where required)?

  • Does engineer report any concerns / defects with line Manager ASAP?

  • Does engineer carry out a Task Risk Assessment for the tasks to be completed?

  • Has engineer signed out with all works signed off / agreed with site RP as completed to satisfaction before leaving site?

  • Are any water hygiene logbooks updated with any remedial works, audit check, visit date and engineer signature as required by ACoPL8.
