  • Were all items of loose equipment hand transported, not on top of carts/transit trollies?

  • Were the catering team using two people to transport the transit trollies?

Departing from Aircraft

  • Was the British Airways door closing procedure followed correctly?

  • Catering staff ensured that the aircraft door is fully closed, seated in recess and the handle is correctly stowed?

  • Before the truck is lowered, did the operator look and check both sides to ensure that the area is clear of personnel and obstructions?

  • Guardrails and platform fully retracted and shutters closed?

  • Whilst reversing, did the driver of the truck use a guide person positioned at least 10ft behind the truck, with a clear of any obstructions?

  • Did the driver follow hand signals from the guide person?

Driving Standards

  • Do drivers maintain a speed no faster than walking pace around the aircraft and comply with local driving policies?

  • When not servicing the aircraft, was the catering vehicle parked away from aircraft, fueling zone and roadways and not obstructing emergency exits, fueling equipment, fire fighting equipment or the fuel hydrant emergency stop switch?

  • If left unattended, was the catering vehicle engine turned off, brakes applied, and left in a place of safety, not causing any obstruction?

  • Were any of the team observed smoking around the aircraft?

  • Did the team remain in easy reach of the emergency controls at all times the vehicle was in operation?

Outbound Catering Inspection

  • Are all latches and catches engaged for all trollies and canisters?

  • Have all chillers in all galleys been turned on by the catering team?

  • Have all Chef's Chat and Allergen Information been loaded?

  • Are all canisters and trollies sealed?

  • Are all trollies loaded to specification, ensuring that any all carts/no carts rules have been followed?

  • Were all trollies cosmetically acceptable?

  • Were all canisters cosmetically acceptable?

Equipment Check

  • Are all trollies fully functional, with no defects, including brakes?

  • Are all canisters fully functional, with no defects, ensuring any gaps are not deemed a security risk?

  • Are all beverage pots fully functional, with no defects, including the locking mechanism?

  • Are all oven racks fully functional, with no defects, including no loose/soiled items?

  • Have all galley plans been followed correctly? Ensuring any non-stowaged items are in the correct location?

  • Has all PPE equipment been loaded?

  • Have all brewers been loaded in security protected packaging?

  • Are all waste trollies security sealed correctly?

  • Has the black stationary bag been loaded?

  • Are all First Aid canisters labelled with a green sticker?

  • Has the Universal Protection Kit canister been loaded?

  • Have all ice drawers been emptied/cleaned, including any bar paperwork from previous sectors?

Flight Co-ordinator & Crew Engagement

  • Did a Flight Co-ordinator conduct a handover with Cabin Crew in each galley?

  • Did the Flight Co-ordinator ensure that no seals were broken before the Cabin Crew boarded the aircraft?

  • If there was a requirement for top-up meals to be delivered to the aircraft, was this done promptly and delivered?

  • Were all SPML meals loaded?

  • Was there a positive relationship between the Flight Co-ordinator & Cabin Crew, with mutual respect shown from both parties?

  • Have Smart Labels been placed into appropriate stowages and activated correctly?

  • Did the crew report any items missing that were not available on the top-up truck prior to door closure?

  • Are top-up meals compliant with NOP / Halal catering, if appropriate?
