Jobsite Inspection

Job trailer or construction office

  • Does the job trailer have the required safety essentials? AWAIR & RTK Programs?

  • Are weekly toolbox talks being conducted?

  • Are construction barricades and construction signage erected to warn of potential hazards?

  • Is there a heater in the portable toilet?

Confined Space (Subpart AA- 1926.1200)

  • Has the atmosphere been tested for toxic gasses? (Carbon monoxide, etc.)

  • Is a permit required before entry into the confined space?

Electrical Safety (Subpart K - 1926.400)

  • Are GFCI's being used on all temporary power and frequently tested?

  • Are all extension cords in compliance and not exposed to sharp edges and vehicle traffic?

  • Are all temporary lights fully caged to prevent accidental breakage and are they secured properly?

  • Are electrical panels easily accessible (no obstructions) and fully enclosed (no openings/holes)?

  • Are lockout/tagout procedures being followed correctly?

Fall Protection (Subpart M-1926.500)

  • Are all employees exposed to fall hazards of 6' or more protected with fall protection?

  • Are all floor holes 2" or larger covered, labeled and secured?

  • Are employees who are wearing PFAS properly trained in how it works?

  • When guardrails are used for fall protection are they at the right height and capable of withstanding a force of at least #200?

Fire Extinguishers (Subpart F -1926.150)

  • Are fire extinguishers on site and are they being monthly inspected?

  • Do we have a fire extinguisher for every 3,000 sq feet of the protected building and located not more than 100 feet from each other?

  • Are fire extinguishers placed by egress/EXIT doors?

Flammable and compressed gas cylinders (Subpart F- 1926.152)

  • Are approved flammable containers labeled as to contents?

  • Are compressed gas cylinders capped and secured in an upright position?

  • Are LP tanks stored outside when not in use?

HAZCOM-Right To Know (Subpart D - 1926.50)

  • Are safety data sheets (SDS) readily available for hazardous chemicals?

Housekeeping (Subpart C -1926.25)

  • Housekeeping being conducted and aisles free of debris?

Ladders (Subpart X- 1926.1053)

  • Are step ladders in good condition and being used for their designed purpose? Opened up and not leaning against a wall?

  • Are extension ladders in good condition and if used for access, do they extend at least 3' and are they secured?

Machine Guarding (Subpart I - 1926.300)

  • Are machine guards in place on all rotating/reciprocal tools & equipment?

  • Are all hand tools free from visible defects and in good condition?

Motor Vehicles & Equipment (Subpart O - 1926.600)

  • Are all employees exposed to or working adjacent to moving motor vehicles wearing at least a class 2 high visibility garment?

  • Are daily inspections being conducted on ALL motorized equipment and are operators trained and authorized by their employer?

  • If an aerial lift basket is used on a construction forklift, is it the right size ( does not exceed more than 10" of the wheelbase), secured and fall protection provided?

  • Is the equipment current with annual inspection?

  • Are chains across gate in scissor lifts?

  • Seatbelt being worn?

  • Is audible alarm working?

PPE (Subpart E- 1926.95)

  • Is PPE being worn and in compliance with site and OSHA requirements?

Scaffolding (Subpart L - 1926.450)

  • Has the scaffold been erected /dismantled by a competent person?

  • Have all the employees working on the scaffold had user training? Are they aware of the hazards?

  • Is the scaffold bearing on baseplates and mudsills and is it level?

  • Are ALL of the open sides and ends of the scaffold barricaded for fall protection?

  • As a best practice, is the scaffold tagged "ready for use" or " not ready for use"?

Stairways (Subpart X - 1926.1050)

  • Is there a handrail or stair rail along each unprotected side or edge?

  • Are stairs with 4 or more risers or rising more than 30" equipped with a handrail or stair rail?

  • Is the temporary handrail at least 3" from the wall?

  • At points of access higher than 19", is a step, walkway or ramp being used?

Trenching/Excavating (Subpart P - 1926.650)

  • Is there a competent person on site while performing trenching/excavating?

  • Is there adequate cave-in protection for employees working in trenches/excavations greater than 5' in depth?

  • Is there an access/egress ladder in the trench/excavation ( 4' or deeper) and is it within 25' of the workers?

  • Are the spoil piles back at least 2' from the face of the excavation?

  • Are all audible alarms in operation on earthmoving equipment and loud enough to hear?
