Jobsite Inspection

General Safety

  • Are weekly toolbox talks being conducted?

Confined Space (Subpart AA- 1926.1200)

  • Has the atmosphere been tested for toxic gasses? (Carbon monoxide, etc.)

  • Is a permit required before entry into the confined space?

Electrical Safety (Subpart K - 1926.400)

  • Are GFCI's being used on all temporary power and frequently tested (monthly at minimum and documented)?

  • Are all extension cords in compliance (no missing ground prongs, no torn jackets, no exposed wire at the plug) and not exposed to sharp edges, doorways and vehicle traffic?

  • Are all temporary lights fully caged to prevent accidental breakage, secured properly and no empty sockets?

  • Are electrical panels easily accessible (no obstructions) and fully enclosed (no openings/holes)?

  • Are cover plates present on all hot receptacles?

  • Are lockout/tagout procedures being followed correctly?

  • Are all wires/ wire caps (splices) in boxes in areas where people could come into contact with them?

  • Have circuits been checked to ensure they are not overloaded?

  • Has the location of overhead and underground power lines been identified prior to digging, driving rods, working from lifts, using forklifts, etc)?

Fall Protection (Subpart M-1926.500)

  • Are all employees exposed to fall hazards of 6' or more protected with fall protection?

  • Are employees wearing PFAS when working in a lift (other than scissor)?

  • Is the fall protection effective when using a PFAS? Fall distance has been calculated and there is enough clearance.

  • Are all floor holes 2" or larger covered, labeled and secured?

  • When guardrails are used for fall protection are they at the right height and capable of withstanding a force of at least #200?

Flammable and compressed gas cylinders (Subpart F- 1926.152)

  • Are approved flammable containers labeled as to contents?

HAZCOM-Right To Know (Subpart D - 1926.50)

  • Are safety data sheets (SDS) readily available for hazardous chemicals?

Housekeeping (Subpart C -1926.25)

  • Housekeeping being conducted and aisles free of debris?

Ladders (Subpart X- 1926.1053)

  • Are step ladders in good condition and being used for their designed purpose? Opened up and not leaning against a wall?

  • Are extension ladders in good condition and if used for access, do they extend at least 3' and are they secured?

  • Are employees using ladders correctly? Not standing on the top step or cap, not carrying materials/tools while ascending and descending, etc.

Machine Guarding (Subpart I - 1926.300)

  • Are machine guards in place on all rotating/reciprocal tools & equipment?

  • Are all hand tools free from visible defects and in good condition?

Motor Vehicles & Equipment (Subpart O - 1926.600)

  • Are all employees exposed to or working adjacent to moving motor vehicles wearing at least a class 2 high visibility garment?

  • Is the equipment current with annual inspection?

  • Are chains across gate in scissor lifts?

  • Is audible alarm working?

Trenching and Excavations (Subpart P - 1926.650)

  • Do all trenches/excavations over 5' have protective systems in place?

  • Do all trenches/excavations over 4' have a means of egress within 25' of lateral travel for employees?

PPE (Subpart E- 1926.95)

  • Is PPE being worn and in compliance with site and OSHA requirements?
