Sprinkler System

  • Are sprinkler heads unobstructed (18" clearance)?

Housekeeping

  • Are good housekeeping standards maintained? (Look for trash, rodents, large amounts of paperwork stacked up, clean surfaces)

Exits

  • Stair treads are non-slip and are in good repair?

  • Walkways, stairways, and aisle ways are free of obstructions?

  • Carpets are well secured to the floor and not worn or frayed?

  • Floor mats are not curled up and free from wear and tear?

  • Fixed stairways have a minimum width of 22 inches?

  • Work surfaces and floors are clean and dry?

  • For wheelchair accessibility, aisles are at least 36 inches in width continuously. (Should be no less the 32 inches at any point)

  • Stored material is piled, stacked, or racked in a manner to prevent tipping, falling, collapsing, rolling, or spreading?

Electrical

  • Extension cords are used only for temporary services? (No more than 90 days and cords should be taped down)

  • A 36 inch clearance is maintained around electrical panels?

  • Exterior lights are functioning?

  • Power strips, surge protectors, and extension cords are not "daisy chained"?

  • Are electrical boxes clearly marked to indicate the purpose of each circuit breaker?

Documentation

  • Tests and inspections on emergency light sources are completed and documented?

  • Emergency evacuation plans are posted throughout the facility, include " You Are Here" designations, and are color coded according to different emergency plans?
