  • Is the crows nest in good working order?

  • Is the manual latch dog extension and retraction mechanism satisfactory?

  • Are the latch dogs satisfactory.

  • Is the scoping ram stabilizer in good working order?

  • Are the crown sheave guards in good working order?

  • Is the finger board safety cable operational?

  • Is there any cracks or signs of metal failure at hinge points?

  • Are the derrick locking pins in place?

  • Are hinge point dowel pins provided with a safety retainer?

  • Is there any purging of air from the hydraulic raising cylinder?

  • Are the tires and wheels in good working order? Are they free from cuts, gouges. Is the wheel showing any defects?

  • Are the fuel tanks labeled?

  • Is there any fuel leakage?

  • Are there any fuel or flammable materials stored in the cab?

  • Are the glass and mirrors intact and free of cracks?

  • Do the windshield wipers operate correctly?

  • Are the hydraulic leveling jacks secured by mechanical lock nuts?

Drawworks Condition

  • Are there any guarding hazards on the drawworks?

  • Is the tubing line and sandline free of defects? Is there any kinking or crushing on the wire rope?

  • Is there sufficient wraps left on the drum with the blocks in the down position,

  • Is the dead line anchor retainer free of defects?

  • Is the road gear lockout satisfactory?

  • Is the handling winch satisfactory,

Operator Station/Work Platform/Floor

  • Are all operator controls labeled?

  • Is the work floor free of hazards(i.e slip, trip and fall)?

  • Are the steps and handrails in place?

Tools and Equipment

  • Is the the safety gate on the tongs satisfactory?

  • Is the backup satisfactory?

  • Is the stiff arm and snub line satisfactory?

  • Are the head guards in good condition?

  • Are the hoses and fittings securely connected and free of defects?

  • Is the tong in good working order?

  • Are the traveling blocks in good condition and free of defects?

  • Are the sheave guards in good working order?

  • Are the bales/links free of defects?

  • Are the elevators operational and in good working order?
