Determination of Responsibility

  • The following section is required to identify the responsibility of all parties to this contract.

  • The workplace supervisor/s is/ are responsible for the trainee and will provide supervision of the trainee's workplace training and assessment. The workplace supervisor will be required to perform the following tasks: periodically review the Training Record Book or other recording mechanism approved by Kangan Institute ( preferably weekly) . Ensure that the trainee is being trained appropriately and by workplace approved personnel and aligned with the training plan. Ensure that training targets are met and the trainee is able to attend the Institute when required. Provide a mentoring and supportive role for the trainees.

Declaration

  • We, the parties identified in this document, agree to the following Terms and Conditions:- Provision of underpinning knowledge training by Kangan Staff. Assessment of the underpinning knowledge by Kangan Staff. Manner in which the underpinning knowledge is recognized and recorded. Issuing of the trainee's qualification upon successful completion of the Training Plan. Review the composition of the attached "Australian Competency Standards Supplement" at the request of any of the parties to the contract. Ensure that a minimum of four(4), workplace contacts are conducted each year.

  • The Employer will:- Support the training of the student by managing and assessing the performance of the student in their day to day performance of duties in the workplace. Align the workplace training and assessment in accordance with this Negotiated Training Plan. Contact Kangan Institute regarding:- Any variations to the Negotiated Training Plan. Concerns about the performance of the student or the Negotiated Training Plan. Maintain and provide to Kangan Institute relevant & approved training and assessment records. Ensure all apprentices/trainees undertaking workplace based training atAQF Level 3 are withdrawn from routine duties for a minimum of three hours a week, averaged over a four week cycle, for the purpose of undertaking training/learning activities (pro-rata for part time).

  • The apprentice will: Monitor their progress in accordance with the Negotiated Training Plan. Report any variances or problems with their Negotiated Training Plan to their employer and/or Kangan Institute at their earliest convenience. Self assess their performance in the workplace and consult with their workplace supervisor or recognized workplace trainers/Assessors on their readiness for formal assessment. Gather and manage up to date evidence to support their claim(s) for recognition. At all attendances, present their Training Record Book/Competency Assessment Record, to allow Kangan Institute staff to update their database, failure to do so, could affect a successful completion of training and subsequent issuing of qualification.

  • Assessment methods:

  • Throughout the apprenticeship assessments will be conducted in a variety of ways including: W-Written; P-Practical; O-Observation; R-RPL; V-Verbal and F-Flexible

  • Clarification on training requirements: Competencies do not need to be started and finalised in their set order. However, level 2 & 3 Competencies cannot be started until the entire previous level has been completed. Variations apply, and are subject to student and employer negotiations and elective selections.
