1. Safety Check

  • Check the oil in the reservoir is properly filled.

  • Make sure it is at the correct table height.

  • Check pronged locking plug are connected.

  • Check the bar stop handle for proper functioning (Lever for run process)

  • Check to make sure the head of the threader is rotating in the direction indicated by the red arrow on the hood.

  • Check for loose bolts and wear.

  • Make sure all metal shavings is put in the proper metal shavings drain buckets

  • Confirm that the bar size selected is correct.

  • Make sure all threader accessories on the shelf are organized and not on the ground

  • Check the teeth/chasers by running a test bar

  • Check for oil spills around your area

  • Make sure all old/used rags are placed in waste disposable can.

  • Check all Emergency Shut off switches on the threader are working including the door.

  • Are the tables and racks in good working condition

  • Is the vice in good working condition

  • Do you have all the correct tools and are they in good working condition

  • Specific Machine and Instructions book is available at my station

  • Is your work area free of obstacles and obstructions

  • Is the Drip Pans/Secondary Containment's free of oil, rags, and debris.

  • Are are pins to the racks off of the floor and in proper locations

  • Are spill kits available and stocked

  • Do the absorbent pads need to be replaced due to oil, spill, or debris? If so, replace them.

  • Check for any missing or loose guards

  • All Electrical Panals have a clear access and no obstructions

  • Are all No-Touch available and in good condition

2. Preventative Maintenance and Safety Check

  • Check all electrical cords and outlets for defects and plugged in correctly

  • Check for normal operation before threading any steel

  • Have you wiped down your machine (Example: Grease, Oil, etc.)

  • Check your tools for wear or deformation (Example: Vice/Pipe Wrench, Allen Wrenches, Specialty Tools, etc.)

  • Visually inspect all mechanical parts for damage and components are functioning properly.

  • Check all labels on HS Threader and chemical storage area - replace labels if missing or worn out

  • Check hydraulic oil level for the vice. located on the left side of the machine.

SIGNATURE OF INSPECTORS:

  • My Pre-Flight Inspection is complete, and all findings have been reported to my immediate supervisor. I understand that bypassing any machine guarding or safety device will result in disciplinary action. All devices which are not functioning shall be locked out and tagged out of service.
