Documentation and Regulations

  • Are the correct RAMS on site and signed, does the foreman/chargehand have a copy

  • Do the scaffolders and Labourers hold a valid and in date C.I.S.R.S card.

  • Do the scaffolders have their cards on site, company requirement.

  • Are scaffolds being erected/dismantled working in accordance to SG4:10

Scaffold Inspection. Basic scaffold.

  • Is the ground sound and level.

  • Are base plates being used on both internal and external scaffolds.

  • Are sole pads/tredders being used.

  • Have the standards been staggered.

  • Have the ledgers been staggered on alternate lifts.

  • Does the scaffold comply to SG4 latest edition, single hand rail on all non boarded lifts.

  • Are guard rails and toe boards in place and fitted correctly on all boarded lifts.

  • Are ladders secured and fit for purpose.

  • Have trap doors and gates been fitted to openings on all lifts.

  • Does the scaffold require a loading bay and is there a design.

Scaffold Inspection for non basic Scaffolds.

  • Is there a design drawing, requirement of Working at Height Regs 2005

  • Are the scaffolders trained to complete such scaffolds, minimum advanced scaffolder as chargehand.

  • Is scaffold being inspected by trained person to under take complex scaffolds.

Scaffold Hand over and inspections.

  • Is the Scaffold finished and been hand over to the client.

  • Are the seven day inspections being carried out by OCS

  • Is the site scaffold register up to date.

Manual Handling.

  • Does the risk assessment include manual handling.

  • Are good manual handling techniques being used.

  • Are hand lines and fittings bags being used.

  • Is there a gin wheel being used, does it have correct certification.

Site house keeping.

  • Are loose materials stored tidy and safe.

  • Are the correct stillages and fittings boxes being used.

  • Are walkways and paths clear of loose materials.

Deliveries to site.

  • Does the driver have RAMS for his task.

  • Is there sufficient segregation for pedestrians.

  • Does the operator hold a valid cert to use lifting equipment.

Comments, suggestions for improvement and non conformance.
