This Pool Inspection Report is issued under Section 53 of the Building Regulations 2012.
Any swimming pool or spa must have suitable barriers or safety fencing in accordance with the Building Act 2011, the Building Regulations Act 2012 and the Australian Standards AS 1926.1-1993, so as to restrict the access by young children.
While the City is reluctant to take action against its ratepayers, the safety of children is paramount. Further, it does have an obligation to enforce State Legislation. Therefore, you should take note that if the above items are not rectified within the specified time the City may take formal action.
The City carry out periodic inspections at least once every four years. It is the responsibility of the pool owner to maintain their pool barrier throughout this period so it remains compliant at all times.
Please do not hesitate to contact the City's Building Department on 9956 6600 if you require assistance in the design of your safety precautions. -
