Shear Stud Installation Checklist

  • Are shear studs required?

  • Is the top flange of the steels free from any primer, paint or any material that will effect securing a weld?

  • If no, will the client remove all primer or paint prior to our shear stud installation?

  • Can the welding rig reach within 7.5m of the steels frame to secure an earth?

  • Are there any obstructions preventing the welding rig from being within 7.5m of the steel frame?

  • Has the client agreed to remove all obstructions to ensure we can secure an earth to the steel frame?

  • Is there suitable lifting equipment on site to lift stud barrels to level?

  • Has the client agreed to lift the stud barrels to level? (Approx. 200kg a barrel)
