The Forecourt is where our customers get the first impression of our business. When your store appearance and cleanliness are kept at their highest levels, they can drive sales and attract more customers as it reflects the quality of goods and services you provide. It should clean and well presented.

  • Is the price boards clearly visible with no obstructions, including trees and garden beds?

  • Are all numbers on electronic price boards illuminated?

  • Is the Shell Pecten on the priceboard free from damage, fading and excessive dirt, marks or stains?

  • Is the pricing zone on the price board free from damage and excessive dirt, marks or stains?

  • Is the message zone and if present the Shop Logo panels on the price board free from damage, fading and excessive dirt, marks or stains?

  • Are the landscape, kerbs and bollards free from damage, fading, and excessive dirt, marks or weeds?

  • Are the branded canopy fascias and edges free from damage, fading and excessive dirt, marks or stains?

  • Is the Shell Logotype / Pecten on the canopy fascia free from damage, fading and excessive dirt, marks or stains?

  • Is the Canopy Underside / Soffit free from damage and excessive dirt, marks or stains?

  • Are all Shell branded roundels on fuel nozzles free from damage, fading and excessive dirt, marks or stains?

  • Are CSU’s clean with no dirt and grime build up, no oily residue or stickiness, graffiti or scuff marks?

  • Is paper towel available on both sides of the CSU?

  • Are watering cans and squeegee buckets topped up to 3/4 full with clean water?

  • Are squeegees in good condition with one squeegee per bucket at each CSU?

  • Are bins less than 1/2 full with rubbish with rubbish bin liners not loose and the bin cap placed not missing?

  • Are diesel wipe containers undamaged and contain diesel wipes?

  • Is under Canopy audio operating ?

  • Are driveways and paths are safe, in good appearance, free of<br>rubbish and accessible?

  • Are there is to be no combustible material within a 1.5metre radius of the vent pipes. This includes, grass, trees and branches. Do all vent pipes, regardless of location have the approved vent pipe signage visible?

  • Is the area around the fill/tank not missing any covers markings, with no debre or damage, and no loose dip/fill markers?

  • Is the air hose unit well-presented and clean with no cobwebs, visible dirt or dust build-up, graffiti/vandalism?

  • Is the trailer hire area clean and tidy, including underneath the trailers with trailers are securely locked in the outdoor bays and trailers a consistent colour and not faded?

  • Is air hose lock is in place and unit fully functional?

  • Is the waste area well maintained and clean, free of litter, debris and graffiti with the bin lids and compound gates are closed and locked at all times?

  • Are pallets and crates out of customers sight, stacked neatly with milk crates stacked no more than four high?

  • Is all forecourt merchandise fully stocked, clean and well-presented and free from sticky tape or blutack residue?

  • Are cages are locked, products clean and facing forward, arranged in a neat and tidy format?

  • The Gas cage must be:<br>• A minimum distance of 100mm from the SodaStream Unit<br>• 1 metre from any opening e.g. a window<br>• 1 metre from a decant hose-end<br>• 1.5 metres horizontally from or 0.5 metres vertically from an ignition point<br>• 1.5 metres from a drain, pit, basement, public place or any fuel dispenser<br>• At least 5 metres from any tank (not cylinder) containing LPG gas<br>• 3 metres from any aboveground tank containing dangerous goods<br>• 0.5 metres (3 meters for WA sites) from any combustible material (i.e. wood cage) and clear<br>• on at least two sides from a wall or restriction that would stop the flow of air <br>• 2 metres from any structure limiting egress past any cage<br>• In a location visible from the console (CCTV visibility is acceptable)<br>

  • Is the area surrounding cages clean and free from rubbish and debris,<br>including cobwebs with no merchandise is to be placed directly on the forecourt.?

  • Is the correct and current POS displayed on all cages, including ’In case of Emergency’ sign displayed on the Gas Cage?

  • Is all gas cage signage be attached using cable ties on all eyelets with the poster fully stretched?

  • Is the soda stream unit clean and locked, with all cylinders in organised in boxes and no loose cylinders stored in the unit?

  • Is the ice freezer door clean, locked, undamaged with correct POS?

  • Do the bollards leading into the entry of the store have 4 correct bollard covers in place?

  • Is the tombstones base filled with water, not obstructing any other<br>POS, clean and undamaged?

  • Is the All Fuels Emergency Stop Button is not faded or damaged with no rust/visible dirt or cobwebs?

  • Is the spill kits should be clean and fully stocked, placed in an accessible location, and ready to treat a spill?

  • Is the FCB cage is clearly labelled with ‘Warning sticker’ decal?

  • Are smile poster clean and free from damage with the correct POS?

  • Is the correct safety trading panel on display?

  • Is the Site trading panel on display at all customer entrances to the store, <br>inside of the glass to prevent any dirt/damage to the sign?

  • Is the Shell Licensee Sticker affixed to the front the site?

  • Is the Site entry clean and tidy with no litter, cobwebs etc?

Shop - Having proper merchandising practices ensures our customers will have a convenient, quick and easy shopping experience.<br>Good organisation of stock and simple effective communications about the location of products, are critical success factors to your store.

  • Is the shelving clean and tidy (not faded, chipped or broken) with stripping attached to every shelf?

  • Is stock is pulled forward to the front of the shelf, so it looks full with no stock placed on top of the gondola or underneath the shelving?

  • Are shelf edge labels (Barcodes) displayed correctly?<br>• Shelf edge labels are to be lined up with the left hand side of the product<br>• Only use the smaller labels when product facing on the shelf is smaller than the large shelf edge label, on hang sell items that have small flip scan ticket holders <br>• Smaller Shelf Edge Labels will need to be cut down to the required size

  • Are 12 up tickets placed to the left of each product still showing the barcode price with one ticket per variety of product?<br>• If more than half a shelf of the same product there needed to be a 2nd ticket in the middle.<br>• If there is a full shelf of the same product there should be a ticket on the left, middle and right sides of the shelf.<br>• ‘NEW’ 12Ups are to be removed from show on the date shown on the ticket or if the product is also on promotion, the ‘Special’ 12up takes priority <br>• All 12Ups must have a shelf talker clip attaching them to the data stripping

  • Are fridge door oval decals displayed correctly?<br>• Only one decal to be displayed per fridge door. <br>• Decal needs to be placed on the side closest to the door handle<br>• All decals should be at the same height

  • Is instore audio operating ?

  • Area bulk stacks and off locations positioned in a safe and highly visible location for customers communicating great value in-store? <br>• Bulk stacks require A4 signage placed within the acrylic holder positioned in the middle and top section of the display<br>• There should be at least 900mm minimum walkway between bulk stacks and other products/objects.<br>• Bulk Stacks should be no more than 1.4m high and no lower than 700mm <br> Where appropriate (i.e. high value grocery lines), display ‘spend $20, save 10c on fuel’ POS. Position below the A4 price ticket

  • Are promotional ends full and correctly ticketed?<br>• One ticket per variety of product. Ticket should be aligned with the left-hand side of the product<br>• If more than half a shelf of same product there needs to be a 2nd ticket in the middle<br>• If there is a full shelf of same product there needs one at the left, middle and right<br>• All hang sell products are to have a 12UP every hook<br>• All 12Ups must have a shelf talker clip attaching them to the data stripping

  • Is the fast lane fridges up to date list as per Excellent Execution Guide along with the correct POS to put on display?<br>• One Fast Lane Fin is to go on each end of the Fast Lane Fridge <br>• Only one decal to be displayed per door. <br>• Decal needs to be placed on the side closest to the door handle<br>• All decals should be at the same height<br>• Fast Lane Fridge Footer Decal is to be placed at the bottom of the Fast Lane Fridge with the corresponding products in it.

  • Are clip strips positioned correctly and replenished to maximise sales opportunity?

  • Are the Ice Cream Freezer, clean, free from ice buildup, full of stock, with the correct header card, as well as electrical cords are kept neat and tidy?

  • Is the ATM Machines fully operational, clean and ready for customers to use?

  • Is the Shell Oil Selector Fin positioned at the start of the Auto bay?

  • Are minimums set and ranged on out of stock items?

  • Are all perishable food products on display and in storage within date?

  • Area all planograms up to date?

  • Are combo deals such as Coke/Cadbury and milk/bread on show and ticketed correctly?

Console – Customer Facing - A clean and uncluttered console provides the customer with a lasting impression of a well organised store. This creates customer confidence in the quality of products at our stores and increases the chances of them making additional purchases.

  • Are Team members in the correct uniform?

  • Is the console clean from clutter with a minimum clearance of 400mm wide is free and clear for customer transactions?

  • Is the POS correct on the console?<br>• Tobacco Price Board<br>• Tobacco Signage<br>• snap frames on protech correct<br>• Fuel Terms and Conditions.<br>• Flybuys (on EFT pad)<br>• Next Counter for Service Please

  • Is the console set up as per EE guide, the only banana bread, pokemon cards and salami sticks beyond the guide?

  • Are jump wires in good condition and not limp or sagging, with no visible tape or residue and there is only approved merchandise is to be located on the Jump Wires?

  • Is the area behind the console clean and tidy?

  • Are team members wearing portable duress alarms and know the location of hard-wired duress alarms?

  • Was the console door left open while a team member was also within the console area during anytime of the visit?

  • Is the Team Member upselling using value statements?

  • Is the Team Member asking all customers "which pump"?

Food To Go - Coles Express customers expect a high standard of quality when it comes to prepared food. Maintaining these standards will give customers confidence that our food is handled and prepared according to the strictest possible hygiene and quality standards. Every positive food service experience provides our customers with a reason to return. One poor experience could be extremely costly to Coles Express.

  • Are the food cases clean doors, handles, shelves, side walls and door tracks are clean and free from marks, smudges and food crumbs?

  • Has any food going ‘out of date’ been actioned accordingly?

  • Are food cases to the correct plonogram with no out of stocks?

  • Are customer usage tongs clean and free from food and icing build up?

  • Is the correct POS and ticketing in place, including the chilled layout?

  • Are the rubbish bins in the food area are free of offensive odours and at a level not visible to customers?

  • Are condiments available and the units are kept clean and tidy at all times, with dates on sauce holder?

  • Is the surface of the coffee machine, milk fridge and bench clean, with the milk fridge locked?

  • Is the microwave clean and free from damage?

  • Is the FCB machine clean and in good working condition, including inside the cabinet?

  • Is the toilet bowl, basin, doors, walls and mirrors are undamaged and clean, doors and locks are functioning properly with consumable available to customer?

Stockroom - The stockroom and coolroom is where you manage your stock levels and prevent products going out of date. It’s crucial to have an organised stockroom and coolroom to run your Site effectively.

  • Is all stock within used by dates as well as the markdown guidelines?

  • Is all team member food that will be consumed must be stored in the ‘Team Member Food Only’ containers in both the fridge / cool room for food that required refrigeration, and one to be placed with the team kettle and toaster for food to be stored at ambient temperatures?

  • Are the noticeboards used to communicate key information across multiple departments and located in an area that all team members can view and up to date?

  • Is nothing stored in front of switchboard, the floor marked out with non-slip safety hazardous tape?

  • Is the cleaning area of the store neat and tidy with every cleaning chemical product easily identified and accessible by all team members along with all cleaning equipment (mops, brooms etc) kept together? (Are all chemicals correctly labelled and stored within correct bottles/spray bottles.)

  • Is the correct safety equipment, such as trolleys and safety steps used throughout the stockroom?

  • Are the floors clear of stock, litter, crates, pallets, cleaning equipment and other trip hazards?

  • Is the yellow (safe height marker) located between 1.4 to a max of 1.6 metres?

  • Are full cartons over 5kg not stored above safe height marker except for<br>archiving boxes?

  • Are emergency exits and fire equipment kept clear at all times?

  • Is the cigarette safe is locked?

  • Are perishable products stored in the cool room, fridge and freezer have the required date stamps applied?
