Scenario selection
A self-employed driver has been trapped between a loading platform and a delivery van. The delivery van was reversing towards the platform when the accident happened. The injured person was not part of the crew using the van involved in the accident. The injured person is conscious but they appear to be serious injuries to their torso.

What initial steps will you take now you have been informed about the incident?
- Check area is safe to enter and then check on the injured person
- Arrange medical treatment - first dial 999
- Preserve the accident scene and ensure nothing is moved unless to prevent further injury.
- Identify who was involved and who may have witnessed
- Once identified - segregate them and place someone from your management team of possible
- Manage the rest of the shift appropriately - ensure they can't see the incident area and briefed no photos taken

A vehicle has just been loaded in the warehouse, the shunter has parked the HDV in the yard on a slight incline. The shunter has exited the vehicle locked the doors and walked away. On walking away from the vehicle it has started rolling down the slight incline gaining slight momentum and has hit the shunter causing him to fall banging his head on the ground. The shunter is conscious but has suffered heavy bleeding.
