A Lifeguard is a member of Staff who undertakes lifeguard duties.
Once the "all Staff" Induction has been completed this Lifeguard Induction and Competency Assessment MUST be completed. This must be completed prior to commencing any lifeguard duties.
This induction is completed at each site at which the lifeguard carries out lifeguard duties.
It is the responsibility of the Centre Manager to ensure all sections have been completed and signed off by both the trainer and the new lifeguard.
Lifeguard Inductor - The Lifeguard I&CA must be delivered by the Lifeguard Line Manager or nominated competent person. Before starting the Lifeguard I&CA the Inductor will need the site WOP to refer to during the induction. -

Pre Induction Checklist

This section must be completed and checked by the Centre Manager/ Lifeguard Line Manager before the Lifeguarding I&CA commences.
The LIfeguard must complete 3 shadow shifts before commencing poolside duties.
Each shadow shift is a minimum of 2 hours, 1 hour of each shift must be observing lifeguarding, the trainee should be within the pool hall and observe how the lifeguard supervises, they should write down any questions and ask the inductor once off poolside.
1 of the shadow shifts must be during an inflatable shift.
