    Prick resulting in blood-borne diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and / or other diseases such as Tetanus. The risk of acquiring a disease from a needle-stick injury is very low, however it is important to that they are disposed of quickly and safely.

    Adopting practices that minimise the risk of people coming in contact with sharps:
    Access the area prior to commencement
    Do not place hands into areas / objects where you cannot see as sharps may be concealed
    Use suitable PPE equipment when handling rubbish
    Do not compress rubbish bags
