PRE-INSPECTION AUDIT

  • Has the inspector printed, collected, and reviewed their inspection requests for the day?

  • Has the inspector gone through their assigned inspections for their day and developed the most efficient route to execute the workload? (The scheduling should be laid out to minimize excessive backtracking)

ONSITE INSPECTION AUDIT

  • Did the inspector take appropriate safety precautions as he / she entered the job site and during the inspection?

  • Did the inspector verified that the contractor or person performing the permitted work maintains safe access onto the jobsite, and complies with OSHA construction safety requirements to protect the public on or near the site?

  • Did the inspector verify that the construction site has the required temporary jobsite portable toilet facilities?

  • Did the inspector verify that the construction materials used are being stored correctly onsite and are not being installed in a damaged state?

  • Did the inspector verify that the means of egress is being maintained within both the areas undergoing construction and the occupied non-construction areas within the same building?<br>(It is vital that occupants are able to safely exit a building undergoing construction.)

  • Was the inspector able to communicate clearly and in a courteous manner during the inspection?

  • If a correction report was left, was the inspector clear and concise with his / her written comments?

  • Do the correction item(s), within the correction report left onsite and filed reflect the applicable code citations?

  • Do the correction item(s), within the correction report left onsite clearly explain the location and nature of the code issue(s)?<br>(It is important for the inspector to be concise in his / her language for others to follow behind and understand the location and nature of the code issues found during the inspection process.)

  • Did the inspector review the correction item(s) with the contractor or person performing the work at the conclusion of the inspection, and was the correction list easily understood by the contractor or the person performing the work?

  • For partial inspections, did the inspector record the progress of the inspection on the jobsite copy of the approved plans?

  • Did the inspector request revised construction drawing from the contractor or person performing the work to be submitted to the plans examiner?

  • Are the inspection results written on the jobsite permit card clear, concise, and understandable?

  • Does the inspector carry additional code information, national standard reference, and/or evaluation services reports to help explain common deficiencies or new code requirement to customers?

  • Did the inspector attempt to provide design advice outside of the prescriptive requirements of the adopted codes?<br>(It is acceptable to make a customer aware of code exceptions that may benefit them; however, the inspector must not step into the role of a design professional and offer design suggestions to resolve code issues.)

POST-INSPECTION AUDIT

  • Did the inspector use good time management skills during the inspection?

  • Overall level of customer service demonstrated during the inspection process

  • Did the inspector demonstrate teamwork and respect to co-workers?

  • Did the inspector demonstrate a strong ethical foundation and level of personal integrity?

  • Did the inspector enter all of their inspections comments with the appropriate code section(s) and language and resulted them to the correct permit number and location?

  • After returning to the office (if the inspector schedule allows) has the inspector resulted all inspections that could not be resulted in the field?

  • Have all inspection tickets for the day been filled in the appropriate location according to the established process by the inspector?

  • Did the inspector file any engineering reports and/or inspection related documents received during the inspection process in the correct permit file pursuant to the established process?
