Safety Audit Checklist – FC Handling Staff

1) Were the staff wearing the correct PPE/DPI?

2) Are the staff correctly and safely dressed for the task required? (high-vis jacket closed, long hair gathered, no scarf or loosable accessories, ID lanyard with security clip etc)?

3) Did the staff keep the airport ID visible?

4) Were the staff present at the stand before the a/c arrival?

5) Were staff adequate according to the flight load to be handled?

6) Did the staff approach the a/c in safe conditions?

7) Were the GSE driven by FC correctly configured and operated during a/c handling service (speed within ERA, safety rails raised, use of parking brake/chocking, no seat-no ride, distance limit maintained with a/c doors/emergency slides path)?

8) Did the staff start positioning the safety cones/PIGS from the LH WING?

9) Did the staff execute the banksman for the GSE (belts and steps) approach and remove?

10) Was belt clear of all personnel whilst moving?

11) Did the staff step on the belt loader with the handrails in upright position?

12) Did the staff check the general conditions of hold, bungee, nets and clips? Any failure reported to dispatcher?

13) After the offload, did the staff remove the FOD (if present) inside the hold?

14) Did the staff follow the load indication as per LIR instruction?

15) Did the load start after the staff get the LIR?

16) Did the staff handle the baggage in a correct way?

17) Did the staff count the bags and write the correct number in the correct box of LIR?

18) Did the staff check each bag’s label during loading?

19) Did the actual sum of bags per hold in the LIR reflect the sum of bags indicated on the LID/LOADSHEET?

20) Did the staff sign the LIR only after loading?

21) Did the staff correctly close the hold nets and secure the clips?

22) Is the signature on LIR readable?

23) Did the staff appointed to sign the LIR check the HOLDS after loading?

24) Did the staff use the wheely wooden disk to offload and load (if present) the MLG WHEELS?

25) After the loading, did the staff help the GHA with the handbags, pax marshalling?

26) In the event of a bag search, did the staff follow the dispatcher’s instructions?

27) Did the staff remove the safety cones only after all the GSEs were clear of the a/c?
