    The disciplinary policy shall apply to all employees in response to a safety policy related violation. The policy is progressive and subject to the severity of the violation. Acts or behaviors that are determined willful or negligent will not be tolerated. As a consequence, immediate termination may occur. For all other scenarios:
    • Verbal warming for minor offenses. There will be two verbal warnings before a written warning will be issued. The verbal warnings will be documented.
    • Written safety violations will be given for serious offenses or for repeated minor offenses. A written warning will result in the loss of all safety Incentive Hours and will remain on file for a period of 12 months.
    • A two-day suspension will be given without pay for a second written warning.
    • A third written warning will result in suspension without pay for a period to be determined. Consideration will be given to the nature and severity of the offense and could mean termination as deemed appropriate by the management.

    Immediate termination or removal from the job site may result depending upon the severity of the safety violation at any time. Persons terminated as a result of a safety violation may be rehired upon completion of an approved training course related to their violation, or after a period of 60 days provided the employee acknowledge their intention to support Northwest Steel Erection’s safety policy.
