General Inspection

1. Housekeeping & Storage

  • 1.1 All aisles are unobstructed?<br> • No product shall be stored in aisles where it blocks equipment manouvering.

  • 1.2 All materials are stacked and stored properly, racks and shelves in good condition?

  • 1.3 Floors and aisles are clear of clutter, electrical cords, pallets, spills and other hazards that could cause employees to slip, trip or fall.

  • 1.4 Adequate rubbish/scrap containers are available and not overflowing.

  • 1.5 Barriers in place and undamaged.

  • 1.6 Cleaning materials are in place and stowed away at the correct places.

2. Hazards & dangerous goods

  • 2.1 Flammable and combustive liquid and aerosol chemicals properly stored.

  • 2.2 Batteries and accumulators properly stored.

  • 2.3 All flexible cords are in good condition and properly guarded.

  • 2.4 Are all chemicals stored according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and local or national fire codes. <br> (i.e. flammable cabinets, cans, etc.)?

  • 2.5 All hazardous materials' containers are properly labeled?<br> • Indicated chemical’s identity, the manufacturer’s name and address, and appropriate hazard warnings.

  • 2.6 Are MSDS available to employees and are they up to date and complete?

3. Fire - Emergency - Accidents

  • 3.1 Are all emergency exits clear of blockage and are the exit signs in good condition? <br> • Inspect both inside and outside for blockage of the exits. <br> • All exit signs should be lit & all emergency lights tested.

  • 3.2 Accesses to fire fighting devices are free to reach

  • 3.3 Emergency services numbers are posted at appropriate places.

  • 3.4 First Aid Kits are in good condition- stocked properly and in place.

  • 3.5 Fire extinguishers, fire hoses and emergency exits signs are clearly visible.

  • 3.6 Are accidents, near misses and injuries being investigated and are unsafe conditions being corrected, reported/documented in a timely manner?

4. Tools & Machines

  • 4.1 Workplaces are in good status (no apparent damage, no risk of injury)

  • 4.2 Proper tools utilised for each job.

  • 4.3 Forklifts and EPT are operated safely: no fork raised when forklift in stand, adapted speed, no phone used during driving.

  • 4.4 Forklifts and EPT are operated by people who have undergone training in their use.

  • 4.5 Are battery charging/changing areas designated for that purpose and contain appropriate emergency flushing facilities (i.e. <br> eyewash and shower)?

  • 4.6 All machinery and equipment receive regular scheduled maintenance.

  • 4.7 Are all ladders and hand tools are in good condition? <br> • Remove any unsafe equipment from service while awaiting repair.

  • 5.1 Do people know what to do in an emergency?

  • 5.2 Are all employees properly trained and is training and certification up to date? <br> • Inspect records to verify training is documented and up to date.

  • 5.3 Do people wear/use mandatory PPE - Safety shoes - Gloves - Ear plugs?

  • 5.4 Are all employees use the proper lifting technique for the materials being handled?

  • 5.5 Are your employees actively and meaningfully involved in workplace safety programs? (i.e. participate in accident <br> investigations, self inspection, committees, etc.)

  • 5.6 Noise measurement on acceptable level - below 85dB.
