Energy Management Audit

Management Checklist

  • Does site have in place an Energy saving plan in all aspects of the business, Bar, Kitchen, BOH (Office and corridors/store rooms), Cellar, Staff areas and customer toilets.

  • Is the management team aware of this plan

  • Does site have an energy champion in place?

  • Name

  • Does the kitchen have an open/closing energy saving checklist?

  • Does the bar have an open/closing energy saving checklist?

  • What incentives are in place for the staff to get them onboard with your energy saving plan.

Customer Area and Toilets

  • Are all lights front of house LED

  • Has this been logged with pronett, get quotes to see if cost effective.

  • Does site have Heating and Air Con?

  • Heating set no higher than 21 and Air Con no lower than 17

  • Is the Air Con and Heating, programmed to go on and off automatically?

  • Energy Champion to be sent program instructions and set up.

  • Does site have a phone charging station?

  • Is this turned on just before we open?

  • Does site have a photo booth?

  • is this switched on just before opening?

  • KMS screens front of house turned on just before opening?

  • All Non-essential LED and fairly lights turned on at 12pm

  • Have all toilets been fitted with PIR sensors?

  • Has then been logged as a quote on Pronett?

  • Good Practice to only have essential lighting before opening.

BAR AREA

  • Are all bar lights LED

  • Obtain quotes from pronett to see how cost effective this would be in the long run.

  • Beer fonts, are these switched off overnight and then on again at 12pm?

  • Fridge temperatures set to between 4 - 6 degrees

  • Check temperature setting and lower to within range, this saves around £30 of energy a week.

  • Are fridges fans clean and free of debris?

  • Ensure fans and cleaned periodically.

  • All bar lights on for 12pm

  • Ensure bar lights are switched on just before opening to ensure minimal energy consumption when not needed.

  • Does site have any fridges covered with a frosted screen?

  • Can we turn the lights off, as the customer can't see into the fridge

  • Are bottle fridges on timers set to come on at 11:00 and go off at 02:00?

  • Have timers been ordered from Amazon

  • Coffee Machine and Tea Urn switched on 15 minutes before opening?

  • How many card machines does site have

  • Can some of these card machines be left of charge until Thursday and then charged ready for the weekend?

  • Good practice for staff to rinse off bar utensils with cold water within their bar sinks.

BOH (Store rooms, Cellar, Corridors, Team room & Toilets

  • All lighting BOH LED?

  • Log on pronett for quotes.

  • Does the cellar management also have with it python timers, to turn the coolers off overnight when not needed?

  • Log on Pronett to have installed.

  • Cellar fan - is evidence there to suggest this is cleaned periodically.

  • Ensure cellar fan is cleaned periodically and every 6 months a PMV is carried out on it.

  • Does site have ceiling tiles installed in the roof

  • Are all tiles intact and free from damage

  • Does site have a cellar Management system installed?

  • Log on pronett to get one installed.

  • is it set at the correct time off at 02:00 on at 08:00?

  • Glasswash machines turned off at the wall at the end of the night and only 1 in use during quiet periods

  • Can we put this into practice mid week to try and save more energy?

  • Glasswash machines turned on just before opening?

  • Ensure Glasswash machines are turned on just before we open

  • Does site have store fridges BOH?

  • Can these be turned off until the weekend

  • is there evidence that site clean ice machines weekly?

  • Add into weekly cleaning checklist, this will ensure the ice machine is running at its most efficent.

  • Can spare ice machines be turned off during the week.

  • Can we install timers so we minimise the risk of forgetting to turn them back on.

  • Amps switched on at 12pm

  • Computer Screens and CCTV monitors turned off when not in use.

  • Body Cams, once data uploaded are these taken off charge and put back on the day before needed.

  • Door staff radios put on charge the night before they are needed (timer could be installed)

  • Does Site have a second PC in the office

  • Can this turned off if not needed through the midweek

  • Printer switched off overnight?

  • Does site have mobile tills?

  • Are these turned off and taken off charge when at 100%?

  • Once charged and not needed unplug and turn off, mobile tills should only be on when needed and during a Monday so stocks can be counted.

  • Does site have a washing machine and tumble dryer?

  • Ensure these are turned off when not in use.

  • All lights BOH Fitted with PIR sensors, which stay on 15 minutes after being activated.

  • Log job on Pronett to have sensors fitted to existing light fittings

Kitchen

  • Cooking appliances off until 30 minutes before service (unless needed for prep)

  • Extraction system in a good state of repair and working as it should in both cold and warmer times of the year?

  • Log with pronett for an inspection.

  • Can site unplug some microwaves during midweek sessions

  • Can timers be fitted to microwaves to ensure they are off outside of service?

  • Are curtains in use in the Walk in Fridge and freezer?

  • Check all fridges and freezers are set to the correct temperatures.

  • Build up of excessive ice in freezers

  • Add to weekly cleaning list

  • Can the salamander be turned down during quieter sessions?

  • Can sections of the griddle be lowered during the week to save energy?

  • Gas hob off when not in use?

  • Merrychef set to a max temp of 200 degrees

  • Merry chef programming utilised for each item?

  • Program the merry chef to cook each item at the correct temp for the correct time (in minutes) this way it is only on for the time it is needed.

  • Gantry lights (hot plate) only on when food is needed to be kept warm?

  • All cooking equipment (including KMS screens) off at the end of service.
