Inspection Policy (PMP)

  • Standing rigging inspections will be done by the master of vessel, at intervals of once a week with weather conditions permitting for the safety of the inspector aloft. The inspection will include all terminals, chain plates, chain plate bolts, gooseneck, tangs, fittings, pins, and cotter pins. During inspection, cleaning and polishing will be done to insure any abnormalities or deformities will be easier to see with the aid of magnafine glass. All results of inspection will be noted in the rigging logbook. Any abnormalities will be noted and photograph and forwarded to professional rigging inspector for analysis and for his inspection if need or a replacement installed with suspect item sent out for his inspection, and noted in rigging log. At once a month interval with above inspection, the running rigging will be inspected including the winches, blocks, shackles, and pad eyes, with all findings or replacements will be noted and log in the rigging log book. At a period of once a year a rigging survey will be performed by a third party rigger with all findings kept on file and noted in rigging log. All wire and fittings replacements will be done at the prescribe intervals set forth by the rules of the CFR’s and USCG MSO.
