Fire Precautions & Housekeeping

  • 1. General housekeeping. <br>-Observe record of last building evacuation exercise (6 monthly)

  • 2. Fire precautions (exits and escape routes clear, good signage etc)

  • 3. Fire equipment in good order and label shows date of last inspection (within 1 yr)

  • 4. Fire doors and fire exits in good order (no gaps, self closers working, signage)

  • 5. Fire alarm. Record available showing weekly tests and annual inspection.

  • 6. Emergency Lighting - Record available showing monthly tests and annual inspections. No faults reported.

Engineering Workshops & Equipment Safety

  • 7. Pit areas clean and clear of trip hazards, markings in place, lights working and tens at or barriers around all 4 sides.

  • 8. Lifting/jacking axle stands & vehicle lifting equipment subject to inspection & thorough examination. (Alliance cornhill dated)

  • 9. Staff are wearing PPE aaa per the SSOW a for the activity they are carrying out.

Traffic Movements

  • 41. Vehicle movement plan is displayed.

  • 42. Speed limit is displayed with signage, repeaters and road markings.

  • 43. Pedestrian walkways are clearly defined including safe crossing points and physical segregation where possible.

  • 44. High visibility clothing is worn by pedestrians in vehicle movement areas.

  • 45. Reverse parking is in place. The vehicle movement rule book is applied to all vehicle movements.

  • 46. The condition of the parking areas and walkways is effectively managed eliminating slip and trip hazards. There is good lighting.

Environment

  • 47. Waste water from bus wash, chemical and oil storage is managed through foul water grids, gulleys and drains marked in red. Surface water drains (marked in blue) are protected from discharge of running water containing chemicals or oil based waste.

  • 48. Legionella risks are managed with water testing and elimination of dead end piping.

  • 49. Leaks reported and repaired as soon as possible.

  • 50. Site drainage plan displayed and understood by staff

  • 51. The condition of bunds and drip trays is effectively managed reducing the risk of contamination to land or water.

Slips, Trips & Fall Risk

  • 61. In compliance with SOP 53, any cleaning and mopping is carried out using signage and cordons to prevent slip risks.

  • 62. Trailing wires are managed effectively with rubber tidies, mats and warning signs.

  • 63. Stairways have hold look land signage to encourage people to hold the hand rail.

  • 64. Steps are stairways have hand rails and are in good order including stair nosings and edges.

  • 65. There are not obstacles on stairways, and when being cleaned are closed.

  • 66. Walkways are kept clear of obstacles from debris or from deliveries.

  • 67. Where spills occur they are cleaned up straight away using the appropriate spill kits and cleaning equipment.
