    The Annual Driver Review will last for approximately half a day and will involve a review of documentation, past performance and observations during loading, driving and delivery.

    For the Driver Trainer

    - Add detail / comments against any coaching point given (both positive & negative)

    PART 1: Admin: mandatory Toolbox Talks and ensuring the driver carries all the correct documentation

    PART 3: Safe Driving Review & Refresh

    PART 4: Loading / Delivery - This will focus on the pressure loading and discharge process for Bulk and load restraint process for Packed (includes Manual Handling Review)

    PART 5. Coupling / Uncoupling

    The driver trainer should have spare copies of each to issue at the time.

2. Compliance

    The driver Trainer must be provided with the following information from the relevant Transport Manager / Supervisor ahead of the Assessment:
    - Drivers last six months of infringements,
    - Performance summary of the Drivers last six months of Microlise data
    - The number of Near Hit reports submitted by the driver and any other safety information the TS / TM deems relevant
    The purpose of this is to assist the Driver Trainer in targeting area's for improvement throughout the assessment.

3. Safe Driving

  • Observe the driver complete and talk through a Walkaround Check of the Tractor Unit & Trailer / Tanker - was this completed according to the Tarmac procedure?

  • Did the driver consistently use 3 points of contact to access / egress the cab whilst keeping hands free of any objects?

  • Were all traffic regulations obeyed at all times

  • Did the driver conduct all parking and reversing maneuvers safely?

  • Did the driver keep a safe travelling distance from the vehicle infront and drive defensively to protect the space around the vehicle?

  • Did the driver apply the signals correctly and sufficiently, in particular indicating for lane changes and turns at roundabouts?<br>

  • Did the driver make use of all the in cab safety cameras and warning systems?

  • Did the driver act professional and courteous to other road users at all times?

4.a Loading / Delivery

  • Is this a PACKED or BULK Assessment

  • TRAILER PREP: Did the driver open / close the trailer applying correct manual handling technique?

  • LOAD RESTRAINT: Did the driver securely restrain the trailer?

  • DRIVER SAFETY: Did the driver adhere to the Safe Zone policy and at all times stay clear of the moving Forklift Truck?

  • DRIVER SAFETY: Did the driver know to remain at the loading head controls during the loading process?

  • DISCHARGE: Did the driver connect to the customer silo safely and apply the correct manual handling technique?

  • DISCHARGE: Did the driver apply the whip arrestor?

  • DRIVER SAFETY: Did the driver remain at the Tanker controls at all times?

4.b Second Loading / Delivery (if applicable)

  • Is this a PACKED or BULK Assessment

  • TRAILER PREP: Did the driver open / close the trailer applying correct manual handling technique?

  • LOAD RESTRAINT: Did the driver securely restrain the trailer?

  • DRIVER SAFETY: Did the driver adhere to the Safe Zone policy and at all times stay clear of the moving Forklift Truck?

  • TANKER PREP: Did the driver open / close the hatch lid applying correct manual handling technique?

  • DRIVER SAFETY: Did the driver know to remain at the loading head controls during the loading process?
