Job Site Set up

  • Have the minimum number of advanced warning signs been installed

  • Is the taper the correct length for the posted speed limit

  • Is the buffer space the correct length

  • Is the buffer space clear of all construction vehicles and equipment

  • Are the construction vehicles and equipment contained within the work space

  • Is the termination area taper the correct length

  • Are the channeling devices spaced appropriately for the speed conditions

  • Are the number of channeling devices correct per MUTCD

Flaggers

  • Are the appropriate amount of flaggers on site as required for the traffic control plan or as determined by the on site Inspector / Contractor

  • When flaggers are used, the last sign prior to the flagger must be the flagger ahead sign. Is this true for this job site set up

  • Do the flaggers have an escape route

  • Are the flaggers certified to control traffic

  • Are the flaggers wearing the appropriate PPE? Minimum class 2 for day time operations and class 3 for both night projects or DOT controlled roads

  • Have the flaggers been instructed on the proper way to guide EMS vehicles safely through the job site

  • Is there a designated breaker on site

  • Are there restrooms available on site

  • Are the flaggers positioned perpendicular to traffic
