WHAT IS A TAKE 2 A TAKE-2 is a quick Hazard Identification process you can do anywhere. If you stop and look at most accidents it is very easy to see what went wrong after they have happened. In a TAKE-2 you look forward and think of how someone could be hurt and then think of ways to prevent that from happening. Doing a TAKE-2 before you start a job you may avoid injuries & damage to yourself and others. Put simply – in a TAKE-2, you take 2 Steps Back & 2 Minutes to look & think through the task you’re about to do. HOW TO DO A TAKE 2 Take 2 Steps back & Take 2 minutes to look and think about what you are doing Have a good look at the task. Ask questions if you are not sure Think through the steps that need to done to complete the task Think about things that could hurt you and things that could go wrong Think about the ways you could be injured and the injuries you or others could suffer Decide on the safest way to do the job Put those ideas in to action WHEN SHOULD YOU DO A TAKE 2 Before you start any task If the circumstances of the job change or are different to the SWMS If you think a job is unsafe DON’T DO IT IF YOU ARE UNSURE OR IF YOU THINK IT’S UNSAFE Before you start any task, if a situation arises that you think is unsafe, or where the task you are performing is different to the SWMS - TAKE 2 STEPS BACK AND 2 MINUTES TO ASSESS THE SITUATION
