DAILY INSPECTION CHECKLIST - CONDUCT ONCE PER DAY, OR PRIOR TO USE. Dealer Safety Manual Section 24

  • If your trailer has brakes (electric or hydraulic), make sure they work, test unloaded.

  • Test all lights—left turn, right turn, brakes, reversing are working, and license plate is clear.

  • Wheel-bearing, suspension and brakes work properly.

  • Size stamped on the ball hitch on the towing vehicle is the same size that is stamped on the trailer’s coupler. And latching properly.

  • Safety chains in place and cross under the tongue, and latch to the towing vehicle’s frame.

  • Tyres is properly inflated (proper PSI).

  • Lug nuts are tight and no one missing?

  • The load is properly secured.

REGULAR INSPECTION CHECKLIST Should be conducted every 3 months

  • Check couplings

  • Tyres

  • No damage to electric sockets for lighting, working correctly; including indicators, brakes and number plate light.

  • Towbar and towing coupling include; maximum rated capacity labelled clearly, manufactures name or mark.

  • Towing Coupling locking mechanism in good condition, no damage and working correctly.

  • Reflectors undamaged and clean.

  • Rims and Hub caps are undamaged e.g., no cracks or missing pieces

  • All components including panels and chasses free from rust

  • Compliance plate with VIN number
