DAILY INSPECTION CHECKLIST - CONDUCT ONCE PER DAY, OR PRIOR TO USE. Dealer Safety Manual Section 24

If your trailer has brakes (electric or hydraulic), make sure they work, test unloaded.

Test all lights—left turn, right turn, brakes, reversing are working, and license plate is clear.

Wheel-bearing, suspension and brakes work properly.

Size stamped on the ball hitch on the towing vehicle is the same size that is stamped on the trailer’s coupler. And latching properly.

Safety chains in place and cross under the tongue, and latch to the towing vehicle’s frame.

Tyres is properly inflated (proper PSI).

Lug nuts are tight and no one missing?

The load is properly secured.

No damage to electric sockets for lighting, working correctly; including indicators, brakes and number plate light.

Towbar and towing coupling include; maximum rated capacity labelled clearly, manufactures name or mark.

Towing Coupling locking mechanism in good condition, no damage and working correctly.

Reflectors undamaged and clean.

Rims and Hub caps are undamaged e.g., no cracks or missing pieces

All components including panels and chasses free from rust

Compliance plate with VIN number
