Environmental and Physical Checks
Check the Risk Assessment and Method Statement for adequacy and continuing relevance

Check the ground is firm, stable and able to sustain the podium's weight

Check all the castors have the brakes applied and they (or the base plates) are fully in contact with the ground and bearing an equal share of the podium's weight

Check the steps are clear of debris and the step locks are engaged and effective

Check the deck is damage free and clear of trip hazards

Check the bracing follows the recommended pattern in the instruction manual

Check the locking hooks or braces are correctly engaged

Check the frame locking devices have been engaged and are effective

Ensure that steps/deck are kept clean and free from any substance which may cause operatives to slip

NB: Ensure that operatives keep the soles of their footwear free from any substance that may cause slipping on the steps/deck
