The Work at Height Regulations state that all working platforms (or personal suspension equipment used instead of a working platform) must be inspected by a competent person: - Before being taken into first time use (installation/assembly) - After any substantial addition, dismantling or alteration - After any event likely to have affected its strength or stability - At regular intervals not exceeding 7 days since the last inspection

All persons involved will receive information and instruction in the requirements of this permit and safety measurements prior to work commencing. I confirm that all checks will be completed daily prior to works commencing.

Environmental and Physical Checks

Check the Risk Assessment and Method Statement for adequacy and continuing relevance

  • Check the ground is firm, stable and able to sustain the podium's weight

  • Check all the castors have the brakes applied and they (or the base plates) are fully in contact with the ground and bearing an equal share of the podium's weight

  • Check the steps are clear of debris and the step locks are engaged and effective

  • Check the deck is damage free and clear of trip hazards

  • Check the bracing follows the recommended pattern in the instruction manual

  • Check the locking hooks or braces are correctly engaged

  • Check the frame locking devices have been engaged and are effective

  • Ensure that steps/deck are kept clean and free from any substance which may cause operatives to slip

  • NB: Ensure that operatives keep the soles of their footwear free from any substance that may cause slipping on the steps/deck
