  • This Vehicle Inspection checklist is to be completed by a competent person with the relevant Driver's Licence for all company vehicles and hire vehicles.
    This checklist is to be completed:
    1/ Before undertaking any journey requiring:
    * Lodgement of a Journey Management Plan (JMP)
    * Travel between any of the following - Project Sites, Head Office or Home if journey is over 200 km.
    2/ At least at the end of every working week that the vehicle has in part or in full been in use.

    The relevant area management/supervision is to review all completed vehicle inspections for their area monthly to ensure they are being completed as required and that all items noted are action as required.

  • Note: Visual Vehicle Inspections (IPS-SAF-PRO-004 Driver Awareness) must be completed daily prior to first use of any vehicle by all drivers.
    Team Leaders will record the results of the first visual inspection of each vehicle used by their team in the Daily Pre-Start.

Engine

  • Oil , coolant, brake fluid levels & no leaks?

  • Oil , coolant, brake fluid hoses not leaking/perished?

  • Windscreen Wiper water okay?

  • Battery electrolyte level, terminals clean & bracket secure?

Tyres and Rims

  • All tyres & rims including spare are in good condition?

  • Tyre visual inspected appear to be fully inflated?

  • Wheel Nut indicator fitted and nuts visually inspected?

Operating Station

  • Air-conditioner, windows, doors, windscreen wipers and washers all work?

  • Reversing Alarm and Steering Wheel Horn operational?

  • Seat-belts fitted and quick release and inertia system working?

  • Fuel levels suffice and refeuling is available on route or on site?

  • All mirrors fitted and adjusted and interior is undamage?

  • Two-Way radio is operational and emergency and site channels are know?

  • Steering is smooth from lock to lock and does not shudder?

  • Hand Brake, Foot Brake and Clutch operating freely and working?

Lights

  • StarT Vehicle - All Vehicle Lights, Warning Light, Flashing Beacon and Spotlight (if fitted) work?

Miscellaneous

  • Fire Extinguisher fitted and charged and secure?

  • First Aid Kit present, fully stocked, all items in date and none perished?

  • Body inspect, no new bends or dents that have already been noted?

  • Cab interior and body exterior clean and/or Weed and Seed obtained.

  • Toolkit and jack are present and complete?

  • After short test drive - no unusual sounds vehicle drives normally?

Corrective Actions

  • Vehicle has been tagged out by me and remains out of service?

  • Arrangements have been made to have all issues corrected e.g. vehicle serviced, repaired etc?

  • Incident Report been raised for all potential or actual Class 1 and Class 2 Incidents/Issues?

  • All issues have been corrected and I am returning this vehicle into service?
