Layout

  • Are walkways clear of obstructions or tripping hazards?

Plant Access

  • We all doors and gates closed and secured eg. locked?

  • Are all fences, gates, doors and windows maintained and in good order?

  • Are all work areas tidy and well laid out?

  • Are Emergency stops clearly labeled and accessible?

  • Are Safety warning signs clearly identifiable?

Tools & Equipment

  • Do all power tools and leads have an electrical test tag attached which is current?

  • Do all power tools have handles and safety guarding in place?

  • Are all ladders in good order and suitably maintained?

  • Are cranes and hoists in good order, signage is clear indicating direction & safe weight limits?

  • Are all chains and slings maintained (6 monthly checks)?

Mobile Plant

  • Are seat belts in place and in good working order?

  • Are all warning devices operational, including reverse beeper, strobe light, reversing light?

  • Are Pre-operational checks completed for all mobile plant, including forklifts, loaders, grabs, scissor lift, boom lifts?

PPE

  • Are all personnel seen wearing mandatory PPE as required by the site?

  • Are ear plug dispensers and glasses cleaning stations adequately stocked?

  • Are chemical handling area PPE cabinets appropriately stocked?

Eye Wash Stations & Safety Showers

  • Are eye wash stations and safety showers clean, operational and accessible?

  • Note: conduct flush test and record any issues here.

Fire Fighting

  • Fire extinguishers are in designated areas and are full and ready for use.

  • Empty extinguishers are stored in designated 'empty extinguisher bay'.

  • All fire hoses are wound up onto hose reels and ready for use?

  • All fire hoses have nozzles attached?

Chemical Storage

  • Are all chemicals stored in their designated areas?

  • Is chemical storage area signage in place and legible?

  • Are all gas cylinders stored in an appropriate manner eg. Secured in cage and separated from incompatible gases?

Spills / Leaks

  • Are bunds in good order with no chipped concrete, holes or other penetrations?

  • Bunds are clear from excess water or litter?

  • Leaks or spills are identified and/or cleaned up?

  • Storm water outlets are clearly marked and free or waste/clutter?

  • Storm water grates are in good condition and are in place and secure?

Lighting

  • Lighting levels in all areas are appropriate for the tasks performed in these areas?

  • Sun glare from natural lighting does not pose a hazard for visibility?

  • Lighting is turned off in areas that are not being used?

Waste

  • Waste is stored in correct bins and bins are in designated locations?

  • Recycling bins are in place and being used?

  • Prescribed waste bins are in correct position and are regularly emptied?

  • Oily rags are disposed of in appropriate prescribed waste bins?
