PART A - SSAN AND PRECURSOR STORAGE

Perimeter

Storage

  • Stacks of packaged SSAN have a minimum clearance of 900mm with the outer walls of the building

  • Packaged SSAN has a minimum clearance of 900mm with the roof of the building

  • Only dangerous goods of Class 5.1 are stored at the facility

  • SSAN is stored within a designated and readily identifiable section

  • Internal separation of SSAN (at least 5m if < 100,000kg, or at least 8m if > 100,00kg)

  • Lightning protection for emulsion storage with earth leakage system rated at less than 10 ohm

  • Free from hydrocarbon leaks and other combustibles e.g. oily rags

PART B - CLASS 1 STORAGE

  • Signage every 100m on the external security / compound fence, legible and in good condition

  • Notice as per Section 48(2) of the Explosives Act is displayed

  • A copy of the magazine licence is clearly visible on the rear of each door

  • "No mobile phone" sign

  • Holding container for mobile phone and other forbidden articles

  • Emergency Information Panels (EIP's) are provided near entrances to the facility

Fire Protection

  • A portable fire extinguisher or dry chemical, foam or water is provided and ready to be oeprated

  • The portable fire extinguisher is located outside of each magazine

Housekeeping

  • The floor is free of dirt or grit

  • The floor is free from spillages

  • Door hinges have greaseable pins

  • Door must have an inspection cover for the locking mechanism

Physical Security

  • Fencing shows no sign of unauthorised entry

  • Security locks are present, operational and show no signs of unauthorised access

Storage

  • Stacked packages have a minimum clearance of 300mm from the roof of the building

  • Separation distances between detonators and explosives comply with AS2187.1 (Section 3)

  • Lightning protection for storage with earth leakage system rated at less than 10 ohm

  • All explosives are stored in their original package (where possible) - not loose

  • Log book / Magazine stock records present

  • There is no ferrous metal within the magazine

  • Free from combustibles e.g. oily rags, empty boxes, wood pallets
