5 S AUDIT SHEET

SORT. "When in doubt, Move it out" The items deemed unnecessary and not being used should be removed from the area

  • There are no unneeded equipment, tools, furniture, etc. present

  • There are no unneeded inventory, supplies, parts, or materials present

  • There are no unneeded items on walls, bulletin boards, etc. and all items are current

  • There are no items present in aisle ways, stairways, corners, etc

  • There are no Safety Hazards (water, oil, chemicals, machines)

SET IN ORDER "There is a place for everything and everything is in it’s place" Everything should be easy to find. Use labels, lines, signs and colours to identify normal vs abnormal conditions

  • Correct places for items are obvious and all items have a specific location

  • All items are in their correct places

  • All storage areas, workstations, cabinets, drawers are labelled and organised

  • Aisle ways, workstations, equipment locations etc. are clearly indicated

  • All quarantine / blocked areas are clean or all items in there are labelled

SHINE. "Clean the work area so it is neat and tidy" Cleaning the workplace and maintaining its appearance daily. Establish preventative measures to produce ongoing cleanliness

  • Floors, walls, stairs, and work surfaces are free of dirt, oil and grease

  • Equipment is kept clean and free of dirt, oil, and grease. Daily checks are conducted

  • Cleaning materials / equipment are easily accessible

  • Lines, labels, signs, etc. are clean and unbroken

  • All documentation is filed daily (Emails, PoD's, Invoices,shoplogics up to updated etc)

STANDARDISE "Set standards for a consistently organised workplace" Develop and maintain standards, rules and regulations e.g. pictures and markings

  • Work Instructions and 5S Standards are available for each work area and are current

  • All 5S standards are clearly displayed

  • Staff are trained on the 5S standards applicable to their area

  • Are standards well enforced within workspace

  • Specific cleaning and organizing tasks are developed and assigned per work area

SUSTAIN "5S become part of daily work" The 5S Discipline is embedded so that it becomes a way of life. 5S is no longer an event but a habit
