Safety Essentials - pre visit

  • Do you have the necessary PPE and 'lone worker' contact arrangements ?

  • Do not enter until you have required boots, Hard hat and hi viz

  • Are you lone working?

  • Do not access blocks without second person in attendance

  • Have you Contacted the Security centre to prevent unnecessary security call out ?

  • Confirm that the Security centre had been contacted

Visual inspection

External / Security

  • Are site boundary, hoarding and access routes secure ?

  • Are access gates (Pedestrian and vehicle) secure?

  • Are adjacent roads and pathways clear of damage ?

  • Are external notices in place? (Contact details and security precautions)

General Site - open areas / security

  • Are the CCTV / intruder alarms in place and operating?

  • Are the camera tower solar panels securely in place?

  • Are there signs of fly tipping on the sites / local area ?

  • Storage containers - are they free from damage or signs of attempted break in ?

  • Site flooding - is there significant build up of water and impact on materials etc?

  • Material Storage- is it stable and free from damage?

  • Falling materials - is there signs of fallen materials such as brick or block work?

  • Cranes - Is there signs of damage or attempted unauthorised access?

  • Integrity of electricity supply cabinets, terminal isolations - are they protected from weather ?

  • confined/restricted spaces - are drain covers etc securely covered

Blocks (External) - IF INTRUDERS PRESENT AVOID CONTACT AND NOTIFY SECURITY

  • Are there signs of Rough sleepers / intruders ?

  • Ground floor openings - Are they in place, and secure?

  • Above ground windows / openings - Are they in place and secure?

  • Access routes (e.g. access ramps) to blocks - are they in place and safe?

  • Block security doors - Are they damaged or show signs of break-in?

Blocks (Internal) - ensure you disarm the alarm on entry!!

  • Are the block security doors operational?

  • are there signs of rough sleepers?

  • IF INTRUDERS PRESENT AVOID CONTACT, WITHDRAW AND NOTIFY CIRCLE SECURITY

  • Are stairs and Bannisters in good condition?

  • Are internal shafts and openings still protected from falls?

  • Are internal plaster walls showing signs of mould?

  • Window protection - is it damaged or missing?

  • Are there signs of Block work or roof degradation?

  • Roof access- Are ladders removed and secured?

Environmental / Community impacts

  • Water runoff - is there indications of run off onto neighbouring properties?

  • Nuisance materials - is there excessive noise, dust or waste materials affecting neighbouring properties?

  • Vehicle impacts - is there any evidence of vehicle disruption related to the site?

  • Has a Resident made contact?

  • have you noted/addressed their issue and taken contact details (if required)
