1. Traffic Management

  • 1.1. The Worker in charge of the site has current traffic management certification?

  • 1.2 An adequate Traffic Management Plan (TMP) has been developed for the site?

  • 1.3 Suitably trained workers are onsite to initiate TMP or to make changes to the TMP as needed?<br>(contractors and visitors)

  • 1.4 TMP control measures are suitable for the worksite? (physical barriers, bollards, speed limits, flashing lights, spotters, etc)

  • 1.6 Location of signage is correct as per TMP? (at the correct distance & spacings)

  • 1.8 Traffic speed through the worksite is appropriate? (suited to the road condition, weather, work on site, visibility etc)

  • 1.9 Delineation of the worksite is adequate?

  • 1.10 Tapers if used are appropriate for worksite? (lateral shift taper or merge taper)

  • 1.11 Are workers protected from passing traffic? (either by separation distance or safety barriers)

  • 1.12 Adequate pedestrian / traffic thorough fares in place?

  • 1.13 Pedestrians can safely bypass the worksite?

  • 1.14 Workers on stop/slow duties are appropriately positioned?

  • 1.15 Workers on stop/slow duties are rotated regularly and have adequate rest breaks?

  • 1.16 Workers on stop/slow duties are competent? (hold certificate of competency)

  • 1.17 If used, are traffic signals appropriately positioned?

  • 1.18 Inappropriate traffic signage has been covered?

  • 1.19 End of work & speed limits re-applied when leaving work zone?

  • 1.20 Is traffic flowing smoothly through the site? (minimal delays, no long queues etc.)

2. Signs and Equipment

  • 2.1 Signs / equipment in use on site is serviceable clean and free from damage? (including dented, scratched or faded signs etc)

  • 2.2 Signs are correctly mounted and secured in place? (allowing for adverse weather conditions)

  • 2.3 Delineators are in good condition?

  • 2.4 Vehicle mounted warning devices are visible and operational? (rotating flashing lights, arrow boards etc.)

  • 2.5 Correct signage is placed for night works? (Diamond reflective or adequately illuminated by lights)

  • 2.6 A record is kept of the changes made to the TMP and who authorised the changes?

3. Documentation / procedures required for site

  • 3.1 Site construction plans are available on site?

  • 3.2 A hazard ID / risk assessment has been conducted?

  • 3.3 Traffic management record/form has been completed?

  • 3.4 A procedure for the management of signs after hours is in place? ( if required )

  • 3.5 All workers on site hold a White Card?

4. Workers and people on site?

  • 4.1 Workers clear of entanglement in machinery? (sufficient exclusion zones are in place)

  • 4.2 Workers and pedestrians are clear of moving objects? (they cannot get caught between objects in motion)

  • 4.3 Workers on site are safe from UV exposure? (compliance with Sun Care Policy)

5. Personal protective equipment

  • 5.1. All Workers are wearing Hi Vis uniform?

  • 5.2. All Workers are wearing correct footwear?

  • 5.3. Workers are wearing eye protection? ( if appropriate )

  • 5.4 Workers are wearing hearing protection? ( if appropriate )

  • 5.5. Workers are wearing hard hat? ( if appropriate )

  • 5.7 All PPE is in a serviceable condition? ( clean and well maintained )
