General Questions

  • Are workers trained and competent for the task and do they understand the risks (includes isolating stored energy, using tyre safety equipment, and using hydraulic pressing equipment)

  • Is the workgroup adequately supervised for the task (e.g. have supervisors visited the worksite, enough supervision for the workgroup and task complexity, and how much experience the supervisors have in the role)?

  • Has the workgroup completed a risk assessment, and do they have the correct instructions / procedures for the task? (Does it include all stored energy types?)

Specific Risk Questions

  • Do workers have fit for purpose tools and equipment for the task?

  • Are there tools, equipment, and barriers in use to protect workers from the release of stored energy (includes tyre inflation cages, tyre handler mobile equipment, ballistic blankets)? or Not Applicable

  • Are there controls in place to prevent unauthorised access to work areas with hydraulic, mechanical, or pneumatic energy release risks? or Not Applicable

  • Are the controls still adequate and relevant for the task being performed to prevent exposure to release of stored energy (Has the tool/tooling been upgraded, improved or changed, is the Procedure / SWI updated & still relevant to the task or process being performed)?

  • Are workers aware of the emergency response processes should an incident occur (e.g. what emergency response preparations need to be in place before commencing work, the process and details to contact emergency response, and what immediate emergency action can be taken)?

  • Is there an opportunity to eliminate or reduce the hazard by implementing an Identify Then Rectify (ITR) safety improvement? (Circle)
