Coupling System

  • Coupling/Hitch bolts to draw bar Tight and no damage

  • A-Frame/Draw Bar checked for correct alignment, no twists, warps or bends in frame

  • A-Frame/Draw Bar to be Non-destructive tested (NDT)for signs of metal fatigue- done by 3rd Party Vendor every 2 years

  • Tare must be under Gross Trailer Mass/Aggregate Trailer Mass. Correct tyre and rim size must be on trailer. Compliance plate and chassis number must be legible

Suspension and tyres

  • Suspension mounting points to chassis checked for cracks, corrosion, metal fatigue and wear and tear

  • Suspension mounting points to chassis checked for correct alignment, no twists, warps or bends

  • Suspension bushes, U-bolts, rocker boxes/hangers, shackle pins, springs and shock absorbers (if Fitted) checked for cracks, corrosion, metal fatigue, elongation and wear and tear

  • Grease nipples checked and pins greased

  • Axle/s visual check for cracks, corrosion, metal fatigue and wear and tear

  • Axle/s visual check for correct alignment, no twists, warps or bends

  • Wheel bearings and Hubs check for cracks, corrosion, metal fatigue and wear and tear

  • Tyres and rims check rim size, fitment, tyre tread and pressure (including spare rim, tyre and mounting point)

  • Correct Rim and tyre specifications must be fitted to trailer- Refer to compliance plate

  • Wheel studs and Nuts check and tighten, check wheel nut indicators, Check Wheel brace, check wheel chock mounting

Braking system

  • Trailer has correct braking system as per the ADR specifications and Gross Trailer Mass

  • Trailer un-braked <750kg

  • Mechanical Brakes/Trailer override brake>750kg<2000Kg (must have brakes on the wheels of at least 1 axle)

  • Electric Braking >2000kg (must have Breakaway system and brakes on all wheels and operated from drivers seat)

  • Mechanical Override brakes <2000Kg- Hitch to be checked for cracks, corrosion, metal fatigue and wear and tear

  • Check Hitch Spring

  • Check discs, brake pads, adjusting screws, brake cables
