Prepare to install wiring systems, enclosures and associated equipment (Learning Objective 1)

Interpret appropriate information for the installation of wiring systems, enclosures and associated equipment (L O 2)

Use sources of information to enable the installation of wiring systems, enclosures and associated equipment to be carried. Assess two of the following:

  • Specifications

  • Work schedules/programmes

  • Manufacturers’ instructions

  • Layout drawings

  • Other appropriate source of information (eg the Wiring Regulations BS 7671, other plans or diagrams, ‘approved documents’, building regulations

Install wiring systems, and equipment in accordance with current relevant statutory and non-statutory regulations (L O 3)

Use appropriate measuring and marking out techniques which are appropriate to the wiring system, wiring enclosure and/or associated equipment that is being installed L.O 3.1

  • Describe what measuring and marking out techniques are to be used during the installation. (please add photo/video of measuring and cutting/forming containment)

Install cables in accordance with the wiring regulations, the installation specification and programme of work (Photos must include: pulling off the drum, dressing in and cable stripping. Please ensure that you evidence the correct PPE) (minimum 4 across 2 jobs) L.O 3.2

Install containment in accordance with the wiring regulations, the installation specification and programme of work (Evidence a of minimum 3 across 2 jobs) L.O 3.3

Install the following types of electrical equipment and accessories, in accordance with BS7671, the installation specification, manufacture instructions and the programme of work. Assess the following L.O 3.4

Assess four of the following: (this must be assessed across a minimum of two jobs)

  • Electric Vehicle Charging point

  • Fire detection components

  • Data socket outlets

  • Smart Camera and or Smart Door bell

  • Smart lighting control (not individual smart lamp)

  • Smat heating controls including hard wired connections

  • other appropriate equipment within a dwelling (eg heating system components, control equipment)

Terminate and connect conductors and cables used in dwellings (L O 6) Terminate and connect cables and conductors in accordance with manufactures instructions, BS7671 and any relevant drawing or specification. (evidence for from the following across a minimum of two jobs) For each item evidenced please include photos of Pre install, During termination, close up of terminations and completed connection.
