General Information

Personnel Protection

  • Spoil piles, material, tools and equipment are kept 4' from edge of excavation

  • Spoil pile is far enough away to not create extra pressure on excavation walls

  • Spoil pile is sloped to prevent collapse back into excavation

  • Support is provided to adjacent structures - buildings, utility poles, additional excavations, roadways, etc

Sloping/Benching

  • Damaged equipment is immediately removed from service

  • The system is securely set so as to prevent failure or movement

  • Employees are not in system during vertical movement
