Operations

  • 1. Who is the responsible person in control of the workplace (name and title)?

  • 2. How many hoist related incidents have been reported in the previous 12 month period at the site?

  • 3. Have there been any hoist related incidents that have or could have resulted in serious injury?

Training and Observations

  • 3. Is there evidence to confirm apprentices have been provided proper instruction on the use of the hoist.

  • 3. When operating the hoist are the manufacturers recommendations being followed, for example are the safety devices being operated as instructed by the manufacturer?

  • 4. Is there adequate room around the hoist that allows the operator to safely perform their tasks?

  • 5. Is the appropriate PPE being worn whilst operating the hoist. for example, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear?

  • 6. Does the operator use the safety equipment provided on hoist the such as the wheel supports and magnetic trays for nuts and bolts?
