Pre-Operational Inspection

Forklift Work Area

Nameplate

  • Nameplate is attached and ledgible, and matches the models specifications.

  • Manufacturer's operator manual and warnng decals are present.

General Forklift

  • Forklift body is free of dust, grease, oil, or filings.

  • Overhead guard is securely fastened, free of broken welds, missing, bolts, or damaged areas.(If applicape)

  • Seatbelt is working properly

Tires

  • Tires free of excess wear or damage, such as long cuts along tires circumference , or rubber missing or separated from the rim.

  • All nuts are in place and tight.

  • Are tires properly inflated to manufactures specifications.

Engine Compartment

  • The hood latches properly.

  • Fuel Sedimenter is working properly and does not need drained.

  • Engine oil is full and free of leaks.

  • Hydraulic Fluid is full and free of leaks.

  • Brake fluid is full and free of leaks.

  • Radiator is full and free of leaks.

  • Transmission fluid is full.

  • Air filter is clean effective.

Forks and Mast

  • Forks are not cracked, bent, worn, or mismatched

  • Forks are free of excess oil or water

  • Mast is free of broken welds, is not cracked or bent, and is not missing stops.

  • Lift chains and rollers are free of wear, damage, kinks, signs of rust or any sign lubrication is required.

  • Hydraulic lines and connection points are free of links .

  • Load backrest is free of excessive wear and securely fastened.

Operational Inspection

General Safety Devices.

  • All lights and turn signals are aimed correctly, and are working properly.

  • Horn works.

  • Gauges are working and reading within proper margins.

  • Backup alarm is sounding when in reverse.

Drive Controls

  • Accelerator is working properly and functioning smoothly

  • Drive control (forward and reverse) functioning smoothly.

  • Steering is smooth, responsible, and free of excess play.

  • Service brake is functioning properly and smoothly and does not easily drop to the floor, or grab. There are no fluid leaks.

  • Parking brake is working properly.

  • Engine is running smooth without leak or sparks from the exhaust.

Lift Controls

  • Lift and lower controls operate smoothly and without squeaking or excessive drift.

  • Tilt control operates properly without excessive drift, chatter, or squeaking.
