  • Has the pre-work brief covered dropped objects?

  • Discarded items: Loose items remaining from a task (scrap items, off cuts, extras/left over items like bolts, nuts or parts etc.)

  • Missing Retention or Damaged Equipment: Lacking/missing primary or secondary retention devices - (e.g missing split pins, including lifting shackle pins without split pins) or Damaged Equipment (equipment that has sustained damaged making it a potential dropped object.)

  • Are all redundant/temporary equipment adequately secured to prevent a dropped object? (check for items held by temporary rope, tools equipment etc.)

  • Are all tools and equipment stored securely at the worksite (lanyards and tethers) to prevent the potential of dropped objects?

  • Unsecured Items: Stacked items (poor storage) or loos/unsecured items and fixings (hand tools, loose signage, unsecure lids, scaffolding boards etc.)

  • Are handrails, kick plates, permanent/temporary decking free from excessive gaps which could result in a dropped object?

  • If working where there is a potential for dropped objects, has a 'drop zone' been considered and properly barriered off?

  • Record details of any other issues/concerns regarding dropped objects revealed as a result of the self-verification review
