Fire Truck

  • Check equipment off against check list

  • Check equipment is stowed correctly

  • Check serviceability of equipment I.e. pliers not rusted, hose nozzles function correctly and move freely

  • Check water level in tank

  • Check Date of expiry of AFFF and date has been entered into maintenance calendar

Breathing Equipment

  • Ensure adequate pressure in BA cylinders

  • Check mask for deterioration of cyclone clean as required.

  • Check hoses for cracks or bulging

  • Check back pack and webbing harness

Firefighting suits

  • Ensure suits are in a state ready for immediate use

  • Check for mold and deterioration

  • Check boots for insects or vermin

  • launder if needed after exercise

Emergency eye wash and shower stations

  • Check levels of water in portable eye wash points

  • Check flow from portable eye wash station is adequate

  • Change water in portable eye was stations every quarter, enter date in maintenance calendar

  • Check flow from deluge shower and eye wash sink

  • Check discharge water escapes area and not pool around shower

First aid Kits

  • Check contents against supplied list

  • Inform Base Manager of short falls and reorder

  • Base Manager to review first aid case incidents which relate to usage and discuss with area personnel.

  • Remove contents and clean box and shelving

Improvements

  • Add document improvement suggestions
