Administration

  • Work Instructions Test to be conducted at 1300 EVERY Tuesday If test is conducted outside of normal schedule OCE and CHPP Super to be notified by phone Tone Test should be completed from location outside of ERT Shed (Ideally Rescue 2) Before commencing tones test make sure you have the following: Operator 1 One Green VHF Radio on CH3 (SW3 Repeater) One Orange UHF Radio on CH 2 (SWC CPP) Operator 2 One Green VHF Radio on CH7 (SW7 Simplex) If response is not gained on any channel, repeat broadcast twice. Following 3 x failed responses on any channel continue test and make note of failure. Any failure of system must be reported to technology Supervisor & SEM Supervisor . A SAP Notification is required for any system failures and is to be listed as a Hazard.

Steps

  • Orange UHF CH2 (SWC CPP); “Attention all personnel, attention all personnel, ERT are about to commence the Emergency Tone Test. Maintain radio silence until the test has been completed”

  • Green VHF CH3 (SW3 Repeater); “Attention all personnel, attention all personnel, ERT are about to commence the Emergency Tone Test. Maintain radio silence until the test has been completed”

  • Green VHF CH2 (SW2 Repeater); “Attention all personnel, attention all personnel, ERT are about to commence the Emergency Tone Test. Maintain radio silence until the test has been completed”

  • Green VHF CH1 (SW1 Repeater); “Attention all personnel, attention all personnel, ERT are about to commence the Emergency Tone Test. Maintain radio silence until the test has been completed”

  • Activate emergency tones as per Appendix: Activating Emergency Tone.

  • When emergency tones Sound, wait 5 seconds. Operator 2 with Green VHF CH7 (SW SIMPLEX 7); Visually confirm Tones are audible on CH7

  • Green VHF CH1 (SW1 Repeater); “ERT to 3-2 (OCE) please confirm that you can hear the Emergency tone on Channel 1"

  • If acknowledgment is received reply; “ERT Received 3-2 on channel 1” If acknowledgment is not received; “Can someone confirm they can hear the Emergency tone on Channel 1?”

  • Green VHF CH1 (SW1 Repeater); “Can someone confirm they can hear the Emergency tone on the CHPP channel?” If acknowledgment is received reply; “ERT received CHPP”

  • Green VHF CH1 (SW1 Repeater); “Can someone confirm they can hear the Emergency tone on channel 2?” If acknowledgment is received reply; “ERT received channel 2”

  • Green VHF CH1 (SW1 Repeater); “Can someone confirm they can hear the Emergency tone on channel 3?” If acknowledgment is received reply; “ERT received channel 3”

  • CHANGE OF RADIO: Orange UHF CH1 (UHF TO SW1); “Can someone confirm they can hear the Emergency tone on Channel 1?” When acknowledged reply; “ERT received channel 1”

  • Green VHF CH1 (SW1 Repeater); “Once the emergency tone is turned off, the test will be complete and normal communications will be restored” Turn the emergency tones off as per Appendix.

CHPP Emergency Muster Tone

  • Contact CHPP control to advise that site emergency muster tone is to be activated Phone – 07 3020 5625 0488 756 490 NOTE: CHPP control are to notify the CHPP of the tone test and complete the test. ERT are NOT to conduct this test.

Emergency Phone Notification – 4949 4555

  • Ensure the emergency number 4949 4555 is diverted form the ERT shed phone to the ERT mobile number 0477 324 367. (Reference the call forward on and off WI for information if required) Dial emergency phone number from a mobile phone (Not ERT mobile Phone) 4949 4555 Dial extension 555 from landline phone

Emergency Satellite Phone Notification

  • Using the Sat phone, call the ERT mobile to confirm correct operation of the Sat phone. (ensure the sat phone has a full battery, the call is conducted outside in clear conditions with nil obstruction overhead and aerial is extended fully) Using the ERT Mobile phone, call the Sat phone number (0147146614) and confirm correct operations
