Mechanical

  • Lifting Devices - Have all mechanical lifting devices been inspected and has inspection been properly documented? (Lift Cart for Roller Tester Weights)

  • Guarding is in proper working order, no damage. Test all interlocks to ensure they are working properly.

  • Storage Racks - Racks are properly labeled with safe working capacity. There is no apparent damage to racks.

Electrical

  • Power Tools - Inspect all power tools in both labs for any damage.

  • Extension Cords - Are extensions cords being used to power electrical appliances? Are cords present for temporary use free of damage and have ground prong present?

  • Electrical Panels - Are all electrical panels marked and free of obstructions? Are areas clearly marked?

  • Permanent Wiring - Are permanent wiring in condiut, boxes, and cabinets free of damage?

  • Conduit and Boxes - Are covers provided on conduit and boxes?

  • Machine Wiring - Is wiring on machines free of damage? Are wires routed so as not to interfere with machine function?

Fire

  • Flammable Materials - Are all flammable materials store in approved containers?

  • Gas Cylinders - Are pressurized cylinders secured by chains or cage?

  • Fire Extinguishers - Are fire extinguishers properly marked, free of obstructions, and inspected regularly?

  • Evacuation Maps - Are maps displayed in all functional areas of the building and easy to understand

  • Fire Exits - Are exits clearly marked and free of obstructions

Personnel

  • Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) - Are operators using LOTO? Is LOTO equipment readily available? Are locations of LOTO equipment clearly marked?

  • Personal Protective Equipment - Are all teammates in compliance with PPE guidelines for gloves, glasses and shoes.

  • Ladder/Steps/Slip/Trip/Fall - Are steps and ladders free of damage and are there trip hazards?

  • Sample units - Are windows/doors used for testing stored securely? Are they set up securely when being worked on?

  • Fall Protection - Are chains used on docks when overhead doors are open and there are no trucks?

  • Monthly Safety Question - Ask random employees safety questions - example "Do you know where your tornado shelter is?"

  • Guarding - Are all machinery and equipment guards in place and being used by operators?

Hazmat

  • Spill Control - Are spill kits properly stored and readily accessible.

  • Hazardous Chemicals - Are Hazardous Chemicals properly marked and stored?

  • Secondary Containers - Are all liquids stored in secondary containers properly labeld and identified
