Meters / Ground Rods

  • Ground rod pounded to grade

  • Ground rod attached to ground wire

  • Ground rod within distance per code of meter

  • Meter trench meets code specification of area

Cords and Boxes

  • Has the job-site been inspected for cords that run across roadways or high traffic pedestrian areas

  • Are cord ramps being used

Ladder Safety

  • V-bracket in good condition

  • Moving parts in good working order

  • Both ladder feet are being used properly and completely on the surface

  • Ladder set at a 4:1 ratio

  • Ladder fiberglass splinter free and no cracks

  • All manufacturers stickers visible

  • Ladder strap being used

  • All rungs free from damage

Wiring Poles

  • Pulley System being used

  • Power turned off (Lock-Out Tag-Out)

  • Wedge clamp attached to ground wire

  • J-hook facing away from wire source when finished pulling wire

  • Each pole has a 3' loop of wire at the top of the pole

  • Splices are at the side of the loop

  • Wire is hung in a consist and uniform manner

  • Drop spans and riser cords are properly strapped (3 straps)

  • No gaps behind the pole after wiring

  • Positioning device being used when on the 3rd rung

De-Wiring

  • Wire lowered with the pulley system

  • Kearny's untapped rather than cut

  • Kearny's and wedge clamps removed from wire before being rolled up

  • Wired taped at two ends and in the middle when rolled up

Boosters

  • Boosters hung on bracket

  • Boosters secure with 3 nails

  • After removal of boosters, nails removed

  • Boosters are raised with the pulley

Phone Line

  • Phone line (based on type) hung underneath power lines

  • Extra phone line coiled near source and near trailer

  • No mid air splices

  • Splices are at chest level of pole

Jobsite

  • All extra Power Plus equipment or materials picked up from site

  • Power Plus logos on poles and visible from the street

  • All holes back filled as necessary

  • Open trenches properly secure per OSHA standards (29 CFR 1926 Subpart P) 1926.651(C)
