  • Does employee know how to communicate to elevator in the event of an emergency? (Test intercom)

  • Does employee understand the difference between automatic service and independent service with the elevators?

  • Does employee know the vendor who services the elevators in the event on emergency and can they provide the contact number?

Fire Command Station

  • Does employee know the location of Fire Command Station?

  • Does employee know the location for the ALL CALL Button?

  • Does employee know the location of the 2642 Firemen Service keys, and what they are used for?

  • Does employee know how to activate individual floors to make announcements if needed?

  • Does employee understand the difference in alerts such as TROUBLE ALARM, SUPERVISORY ALARM, & FIRE ALARM?

  • Does employee know the verbiage to make an announcement? (Test employee by asking them to recite the required announcement)

  • Does employee know the vendor who services the Fire Panel in the event of service/emergency?

Emergency Scenarios and Respones

  • It is 1735hrs, and you are posted at the main lobby desk. You hear the Fire Command Station go into alarm and the Fire Tones are activated and an alarm received for the smoke detector on the 9th floor passenger elevator. How do you respond to this scenario? Did employee make correct choices/action?<br>

  • It is 0200hrs, and you are on building patrol, you notice a bag left unattended by the freight loading dock area outside on 43rd street. How do you respond? Did employee take correct action?

  • You are on duty, and telephone calls come in to the lobby desk from tenants saying that a report of a Con Ed Transformer Vault exploded in the area. You see tenants start walking in the building covered in dirt and debris and saying there was an explosion outside near Grand Central Station. How do you respond? Did employee take proper action?

  • A person approaches the lobby desk saying they forgot their access card and they be let in? Did employee take proper action?
