FA1 - First Aid Checklist

  • FA1-1 Is there basic advice on First Aid at Work in the first aid box?.

  • FA1-2 Are there 20 individually wrapped sterile plasters – various size? (Ensure blue for catering).

  • FA1-3 Are there 2 large sized sterile individually wrapped, wound dressings

  • FA1-4 Are there 6 medium sized sterile individually wrapped, wound dressings

  • FA1-5 Are there 2 individually wrapped triangular bandages?

  • FA1-6 Are there 2 sterile eye pads?

  • FA1-7 Are there 2 burn dressings?

  • FA1-8 Are there 2 finger dressings?

  • FA1-9 Are there 2 crepe bandages?

  • FA1-10 Is there 1x micropore tape?

  • FA1-11 Are there 10 alcohol free wipes?

  • FA1-12 Are there 3 pairs of disposable gloves? (refer to guidance HSE leaflet, Latex and you)

  • FA1-13 Is there 1x pair of scissors?

  • FA1-14 Are there sterile saline sachets?

  • FA1-15 Are there 2 foil blankets?

  • FA1-16 Check expiry date on all items which have them. Do all items have at least 3 months until they expire

  • FA1-17 For items without expiry date, do they look in good condition? (If no, please order replacements

FA2 - Location and staff understanding

  • FA2-1 Speak to two staff. Can they tell and show you where the first aid box is located?

  • FA2-2 Speak to two staff. Can they tell you which colleagues they are working with at time of the audit are first aid trained?

  • FA2-3<br>Do all staff who are first aid trained have access to the first aid box? (e.g. if it is treatment room would the first aider have immediate access to this)

  • FA2-4 Is the first aider on shift easily identifiable? (e.g. is there a board / notice which states first aiders on shift)
