Safe Systems of Work

  • Is there a designated controlled area 5m in front and 2m at either side of the x-ray aperture using barriers, warning signs, wall, floor, earth etc.?<br>(Note: be mindful that x-rays can penetrate walls and other objects. Consider this fact when auditing designated controlled areas)

  • Does the user have clear line of sight to allow them to stop any personnel entering the designated controlled area?

  • Is the battery pack removed from the x-ray unit when not in use?

  • Is the x-ray unit undamaged (i.e. no cracks, scratches on aperture, broken trigger, loose battery, or anything to suggest the unit has been dropped)? If not, STOP work and report to the supervisor and site RPS.

  • Is the unit secured in its own locked transport case when not in use?

  • Is the x-ray unit left unattended for any reason?
