OHS Inspection Sections

1). General Safety Conditions

  • 1.1 - Is the area free of hazards that could cause injury or harm?

  • DON`T FORGET TO DESCRIBE THE HAZARD (incl. photos)

  • 1.2 - Are fire exits marked, unobstructed and in sound condition?

  • 1.3 - Are electrical cords/cables & outlets in a satisfactory & safe condition?

  • 1.4 - Are machines and/or equipment appropriately guarded?

  • 1.5 - Is the area free of liquid spills or trip hazards?

  • 1.6 - Are general aisles and walkways clear and unobstructed?

  • 1.7 - Are escape routes/exits clearly marked, illuminated, clear and free of obstructions?

  • 1.8 - Are ladders, scaffolds and harnesses in a satisfactory condition and routinely inspected?

  • 1.9 - Is safety signage suitable & sufficient, and appropriately displayed?

2). HEALTH & HYGIENE

Health & Hygiene

  • 2.1 - Are all working areas clean, neat and tidy, and the general housekeeping standards are of suitable & acceptable standard?

  • 2.2 - Are waste bins emptied appropriately? (if the bin is overflowing = fail)

  • 2.3 - Are storage areas clean and well-maintained?

2.4 - PPE

  • 2.4.1 - Has suitable and sufficient PPE been issued to staff, as required?

  • 2.4.2 - Has PPE been inspected and free from defects / in good condition?

2.5 - First Aid & Eyewash station

  • 2.5.1 - Is the First Aid kit fully equipped and checked?

  • 2.5.2 - Is the emergency eyewash station in place and 'use by' date correct?

3). OPERATIONAL ASPECTS

Operational Aspects

  • 3.1 - Are machines and equipment functioning properly?

  • 3.2 - Are safety mechanisms and warning systems operational and performing as intended?

  • 3.3 - Are stores & materials stored and stacked so they are not likely to fall or cause injury? In addition, racking should be of adequate strength and stability.

3.4 - Fork Trucks, Mobile Elevating Platforms (MEWP) & Pallet Trucks

  • 3.4.1 - Are fork trucks, mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), and pallet trucks in good condition?

  • 3.4.1 - Are fork trucks, mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), and pallet trucks subjected to periodic examination and inspection?

  • 3.5 - Are flammable materials & hazardous substances labelled and stored correctly?

  • 3.6 - Is the workplace appropriately secure? i.e. Unauthorized person can´t access the area

4). INSTALLATION DEFECTS

Installation Defects

  • 4.1 - Are there visible defects in the building structure or equipment installation that pose a hazard to workers or visitors?

4.2 - Lighting

  • 4.2.1 - Are the lights operational?

  • 4.2 - Is suitable and sufficient lighting provided at the places where the equipment is used, taking account of the operations to be carried out?

  • 4.3 - Are firefighting appliances (portable fire extinguishers and/or hose reels) in place, within service, and appropriately identified and mounted?

  • 4.4 - Are the HVAC assets, services, and systems in a satisfactory condition? (Free from excessive vibration, heat, noise & leaks)?

  • 4.5 - Is there safe access/egress provided and maintained, in particular for assets requiring maintenance? i.e. Asset can´t be accessed due to its location
