  • Are personnel keeping hands and fingers clear of pinch and crush points?

  • Are there pinch points, crush zones and the line of fire while conducting the task?

  • Are hazardous chemicals involved in the task and are personnel wearing the appropriate gloves?

  • Are personnel washing hands if they come in contact with hazardous substances?

  • Are all guards in place on power tools to protect hands from rotating parts?

  • Are gloves well fitting and do not pose a risk of entanglement when using rotating equipment?

  • Are cut resistant gloves being worn when using Stanley knives and other sharp hand tools?

  • Are objects being cut with saws secured from movement during cut?

  • Are personnel wearing gloves when using hand tools (i.e. hammer and chisel)?

  • Are suitable controls and work practices implemented for the task to control exposure of hand injuries to workers?

  • Have rebar ends been covered/capped and rebar ties properly positioned (bent down and away from employee contact)?

  • Is the work area free from hazards that can cause laceration and puncture wounds (e.g. protruding nails or sharp unprotected edges)?

  • Do personnel have gloves clipped to them when gloves are not in use?

  • Has Toolbox Topic 01 - Hand Protection been discussed with the work crew?
