Process - Processes and procedures should be followed and people working in the area should have knowledge of processes and procedures.

  • Correct QAS displayed on the line?

  • Pre-printed packaging (ie sleeves) - only product being run accessible with the correct date

  • Metal bins/checkweigher locked?

  • Is there an acceptable amount of packaging on line?

  • Has all packaging from the previous runs been cleared?

  • Is any packaging in the area clean, tidy and covered?

Food safety/Foreign body control - Each of the factory areas has a responsibility to implement and maintain food safety. Make sure that processes and procedures that are taking place in the area are keeping product safe and they are under control.

  • Are all plastic/rubber seals, belts, paddles, guards, lids and guides in acceptable condition to run and not posing a foreign body risk?

  • Hose pipes intact without any damage that poses a foreign body risk and stored correctly so that they are not in contact with the floor?

  • Is the line free from any sellotape engineering/cardboard engineering?

Hygiene and Housekeeping - Area should present good housekeeping standards in place with equipment and utensils stored in appropriate storage areas.

  • Waste hatch locked?

  • Waste bins to level and not overflowing

  • Are the line workstations and storage areas clean and tidy?

  • Is the cleaning equipment stored correctly and clean?

  • Are all the lines maintained to a visually clean standard?

  • Is the area under the line free from excessive debris?

Documentation

  • Are all checks being completed correctly and on time?

Fabrication

  • Loose mastic/sealant?

  • Walls and ceilings in good condition, without holes/gaps or flaking paint?

  • Are floors and kerbing in good condition and undamaged?
